Nice! I saw that very album today at my thrift shop. It was a new arrival along with several other musicals all in excellent condition. Gave it some thought. Might still pull the trigger on it and South Pacific with Mitzi Gaynor.

Found this CD just this week.
Probably my favorite musical, this or Paint Your Wagon.
We'll likely play it this weekend, the wife grabbed when she saw it.
Which means it'll get a listen soon.

Canterbury

I was not aware that England had homes built against the water (rivers or streams).
What is the reasoning in Canterbury?
I can understand a Millers house and such, but this looks old and yet very built up.
I would assume there was plenty of land/room to build on back then.
Is the geography there a problem?

Just had a WTF moment. Opened this



and found no disk in the front section. Luckily, the case holds 3 disks and both of the disks were in the back section.

A somewhat unsavoury reply to that might be the lack of public utilities in those days. Looks like the place was built in 1500, and the waterway would have made a handy disposal point for emptying chamberpots and the like. Apparently, William Shakespeare's father was prosecuted for this, due to the fact that his effluent landed on the road outside his house.

Mind you, this is a guess.

Interesting question.....id refer you to this decent summary of the citys history.lts somewhat spoilt by tourists nowadays but having seen it in its musical heyday i remain fond of it.Very prog rock[excluding Soft Machine]

i grew up listening to this as one in my mothers very eclectic collection

A Seattle band that lasted from 1981 to 1989. They toured a lot but didn't record too often. This 2-cd set includes their entire recorded output. I guess avante-gard would describe their music pretty well.
