What's your latest audio purchase?

I just picked up a second MS Phonomena II Phono Preamp to replace the iFI Phono2 that I had all kinds of issues with, sonics not one of them.
Regards,
Jim

A DIY kit amplifier. Acoustech XI Stereo Power Amplifier. Original kit cameDSCF7298.JPG DSCF7301.JPG DSCF7299.JPG with the parts to build an amp. Additional parts could be purchased to make it an integrated amp. This one was missing a fuse holder for one of the speaker fuses. Picked it up off of ebay a few weeks ago. Just got around to testing it today.....worked fine.

The Technics of that era have amazing specs. .003% THD?....... what the heck??!!!

After a Sunday morning cruise through the west suburbs, 3 stops checking out CL listings I came home with a nice little stack at decent prices.
Lafayette LT-825 tuner $15
Optimus Pro7 AV speakers $20
Realistic Lab 1600 TT (serviced) $75 The platter drawer access like a cd [player was just too cool too pass up. It'll take up no room in an office or BR setup....love that!
Adcom GFA 535L $50

The retro Philco toy I picked up a couple weeks ago for $20 I thought the cabinet was neat. I wouldn't have looked twice but it came with the matching table. CD and cassette works but the speakers (and I'm sure the amp) sound atrocious.

Picked up a pair of goldenear Triton 7 off eBay locally - someone pawned them and I was a day late - they came up on eBay a week later - I have 1’s and really like them so I got the 7’s for the spare bedroom. They fill the room with soundstage. E234F0EB-30A7-446E-8CCF-3D775C1976C1.jpeg

I'm still trying to find out. No marks that I can find. 5.25" car speakers, but I'll bet there's a nice white architectural speaker available of the same size, and there's room for a bluetooth amp concealed under the seat.

Yamaha TC 320. $5 estate sale. Needs a belt though.

Picked up a Denon AVR-790 from Craig's List for $25. The HDMI board is shot. Everything works except for outputting HDMI.

I am not impressed. Even for only $25, I will not be keeping it for long. The AV receiver will be fine as a temporary audio amp for my home office. This 2010 Denon just does not have the punch that I would expect from a 90 watt stereo amp.

The black box is home theater for dummies, but the remote requires a PHD to figure out. The remote has two sides, with the rear control behind a 3/4 length door. The on-screen setup options are minimal and not very clear. (I can still use a composite video output to view the setup screens.)

Well, I have a similar model (same remote) and I think it sounds great, but I concur about the setup. I was a Music Production and Engineering major at Berklee and I have worked 36 channel boards that were easier to navigate. It is extremely frustrating.

BTW, it is very possible that it sounds so bad for you because it is in Audessy EQ for the previous owner's speakers. Sadly, I haven't found a way to do a clean factory reset, but for whatever input you are using (yes, you have to do this for each input) make sure that all of the room correction is switched off. Also make sure the speakers are set to "large". If it still sounds bad after that, there is more wrong than the HDMI board. I have had several friends over to hear mine and we all agree it punches well above it's weight class. I would wonder if even the HDMI output issue is a menuing option as the menu is so very bad. It took me literally two hours to figure out why I wasn't getting any output to the subwoofer.

Edit: Mine is the AVR-1909. Based on CNet reviews yours is about eight months newer than mine. Both are rated 7x90 WPC. Looks like yours is an updated version of mine. It adds one HDMI and removes the S-Video. From the front they look identical.
