Next drop will be a bit, most of the rest of the stuff is either in a rack or shelving unit where getting a clear view of the back is going to be tough, or is on loan to one of my brothers and so off-site.

I know how difficult it is to get access to the serial numbers of gear in storage. Thanks for taking the time. Also, many thanks for putting the list into the correct format. That's enormously helpful when uploading the list to the database. These will be in the August report available in early September.

Pete, think I have a typo in the first list:

A-80,816120668,Sansuiman

Can't be right, that would be Dec 1986, and the A-80 was made about 1980-82, concurrent with the T-80. I'll go back and recheck that one when I have a chance.

I'll recheck it later today, but its probably a 0 as that series of gear was made around 1981-82 (same as the T-80 on the list) and about the same time as the 3900-9900Z receivers. These were the basis for Sansui's first integral rack system before everything started going completley to hell.

Hoping to have several more numbers to add with that correction, including the rest of my turntsbles, EQ's, 9001's, a 999, and a pair of G-9000's.

We have 10 A-80s on file. The earliest was built in July '79 and the last in December '80. 9 of the 10 were built in 1980 so it's a good bet that 6 is a zero or a 9.

We have 13 T-80s on file. They were built between August '79 and December '80.

Hope this helps.

My new Sansui AU-9500, Unfortunately I could not decipher the serial number because it is very erased but I believe it is from 1975. If anyone can help me, I thank you!

Pretty much all AU-9500s on file were built on Line 21 between October '73 and October '75. It's a good bet the first three digits are 215 because the third digit looks more like a 5 than a 3 or a 4. Please take a closer look at the third digit to see if your eyes are seeing it the same way. There is a clear 3 and a clear 5 at the end of the serial number for comparison.

The fourth digit is hard to read but since the fifth position is clearly a 2, the forth could only be a 1 to indicate December. The last four look like 0354. How does 215120354 sound?

Sinnerboy, I have yours too.

- Pete

Sorry, I wrote that response yesterday and got distracted before hitting send. It didn't occur to me that the forth digit could also be a 0. We have four AU-9500s built in February '75 but none built after October '75. We have 58 units on file so the sample size is pretty good. Based on that, it's more likely to be a 0 than a 1.

- Pete

I'd like it to be number 1 but looking right I'm sure it's a 0. I'm asking you to file as: 215020354. I believe this is the most correct!
Thanks Pete!
