@Northwinds

And this is what I tried to post, Ron:

I am glad that you and your house are still okay, I think that this is the most important point. I always plug off all my electronics when a severe thunderstorm is announced, I even switch off the AC. I hope that you'll get repaired your devices pretty soon...

Can no longer adjust site settings. I keep getting notifications for every thread I've contributed to, and can't turn them off. This (attached) seems to be the place, and the descriptions are showing but the boxes or radio buttons do not display. I've tried every possible theme/color combination I can. Very frustrating. This is FF Quantum 62.0.3. Advice welcome.

Hmmmm...that browsing option screen is working for me...maybe clear your cookies or try a diff browser?

Whatever y'all did when you made the site "secure," broke AK. As soon as I switched to the "https" URL, I am being logged out incessantly, and the site has become unusable. While I was using the unsecure URL, all was well. I have tried all available suggestions, and followed all available directions. The devices affected are an iPad Pro running iOS 12.1.4 and a Mac Mini running Mojave 10.14.3 with Safari 12.0.3.

https wont work .

Let's have a look at the forest, for a second. Changing AK to https didn't 'break' AK. Otherwise there would not be so many people able to post, without any issues whatsoever. For some people, only some, there is an inconsistency between what their computer expects, wrt urls/security/who knows, and what AK is providing. When the change was made, my computer didn't even hiccup. Win7Pro/Firefox. There has been some discussion about non-https links causing problems, when moving between pages. As well, some of the banners are non-https. This is enough to generate the 'security warning' now that AK is https.

For those of you who are experiencing this security 'conflict', have you whitelisted, or can you whitelist AK? Does this eliminate the problem?

Respectfully, AK is the only site upon which this issue occurs. "Whitelisting" does not solve the problem.

Ok. That is the answer. Thank you. I asked the question to see if it made any difference for someone who is experiencing the problem. I don't know, because I have not seen the slightest problem. It will be for others to diagnose, I would surmise.

As for only on AK, it's not everybody on AK.

Please understand that of the many thousands of users that visit AK daily, there are myriad system configurations. At least some of them have been impacted by the change to https. That doesn't mean that it was done incorrectly, just that the change has engendered the need for additional tweaks. Some of these issues may rely on cooperation from other parties, like banner advertisers. If I seem a little testy, it's only because my inbox has been blowing up. i am the contact address, and the people who can't log in aren't reading the threads in this forum, and can't log in to start a pm, so they are emailing.

At this point, my presence in this thread is at best non-contributory, and probably counterproductive, so I'll sign off of this thread, and the others like it. The responsibility for these repairs rest squarely on the shoulders of others.

Security settings have been tweaked. I have deleted the multiple threads all dealing with issue so I can see only new issues since the settings were updated.

If you have an issue please post about it in this thread, so I can see them all in one place.

As issues arise, I can check your IP address and see what flag was tripped and then change that setting for all IP's.
Hello I'm new to this site I'm not for sure how true well I don't know how to start a conversation it says to pick recipients? I don't know anybody on this site? I have a general question I would just like to get some feedback on I was thinking I could just put a post in a form and well any help would be greatly appreciated. Best regards James Tucson Arizona

Interestingly, the issue persists on my iPhone 7 running iOS 12.1.4, but my Mac Mini running Mojave 10.14.3 and Safari 12.0.3 appears to work now. It's a start.

Got logged off 3 times this morning,,, can't get back using HTTP or HTTPs, and get the FF unsecured PW message,,, Message goes on to ask (AK)website to look in to the problem...Changing the PW allows me back on, but after a few page changes it locks out again... I was able to decipher PW puzzles better this morning,,, yesterday they were too encrypted to read,, and started to scroll automatically after a few changes...
FWIW, this is the only site this happens on...

FYI,,, I noticed DIYaudio forum made the change to the "S" a while ago,,, I logged on yesterday and today flawlessly, haven't been there for a couple months... didn't know there was a change made til I read about it... I refreshed FF this morning, so I'm lost at how to fix this myself...
If I get locked out of AK just want to say, I really enjoyed the site,,, especially the friends I made here..
I'll see some of you on DIYaudio,,,
Thanks

Cheers to that, @knockbill. The AK site in its current state is not user-friendly enough to warrant sticking around, but I believe that the issue on AK's end will eventually be fixed.

Hope you are correct, but I am not computer literate enough to help sort it,,, I PMed a few member/friends I made here, while I was online,,, in case I get locked out,.... See ya on DIYaudio if not here!!!!

Hope someone will make an announcement on DIYaudio if/when it gets sorted... I didn't realize there was a problem here til it happened to me,,, The "S" don't fix it, for long anyway!!!!!

Just pick a forum which applies to your question and create a new thread in it. If your post includes any auction links such as eBay or such, post it in Dollars and Sense.
Hope this helps.

A conversation is what other forum software packages call Private Message. It's between you and another recipient or recipients. It will not appear on the forum for all to see. As Celt said, if you want to ask a question or post something for all to see, pick a forum that pertains to your question and post it there.
