My Ever-Changing System...

Some more updates...

It's here, up and running, and sounding great! Stock alignment is perfect, VTF is spot on at 1.75 gm, table is level, the ground wire stripped off the supplied IC's, using WW Oasis 7 IC's.

This TT is dead silent. No hum, no rumble, rock solid speed. And this Ortofon 2M Red does in fact sound excellent. I'm sure it'll sound better as it gets some hours on it, and it'll be accumulating quite a few hours throughout the day. As it is, I put about 5 hours on it last night after work! :D

And the master bedroom system got an update... I swapped out the old Pioneer Elite receiver for the newer Onkyo receiver I used to have in the main system because it has HDMI inputs. The Pioneer didn't. I added the Luxman into the mix with an old NAD 9200 cart. Teresa has been bugging me for a while for a TT, so now she has one, and loves it! I need to get another cart though. That old NAD is muddy as heck! I'm going to swap it out today with a barely used Linn K5 cart.

I had sonic gains when switching my high current amps into the wall directly opposed to my panamax power conditioner.. from the wall is the way to go for high current and I would assume you have dedicated lines

whats the device at the wall outlet?

nice system man

Amazing thread and awesome set up! Love the overall looks and how try meld everything together with your set up. I think Wireworld should give you a discount for any new purchases with all your comments that surely inspire others to do the same.

How about another update?... 2 and a half years later?... LOL

I totally forgot about having this thread as it got buried over the years.

Well, a LOT has changed, and only a few things remained over that time, the Parasound Halo P5, the APC power conditioner, the Blue Circle Audio pucks, and of course all of the cables. What's changed are some new cables, new amps, new sources, new subs, and new (old) speakers. This time around, I have completely shrunk down the system, making it much simpler and direct. Of course, there were a bunch of other changes over the years to the point of the system becoming a lot larger and complex than I really wanted

I sold the Sonus faber Venere 1.5's shortly as my last post in this thread. Just a couple months ago, I bought yet another pair exactly like the first ones. A month after, I got a mint vintage pair of Monitor Audio Silver 3i's which I am currently running, and moved the Venere 1.5's to the bedroom system. Teresa was sad to see the Venere's go the first time around as was I, then she was happy to have another pair of them back again. Then I made the mistake of trying out these Silver 3i's, and I prefer these much more over the Venere's. The Silver 3i's just do everything better. They're more open, organic and refined sounding with everything I throw at them.

I've been playing around with speakers cables this week, swapping around the Wireworld Oasis 7's, a pair of Audioquest CV-8 72v DBS, and a pair of Chinese Choseal speaker cables. Believe it or not, I am getting the best results with the Choseal cables! Warmer, smoother, sweeter, cleaner sounding. I may end up trying some of their higher end cables, probably bi-wire ones and see what happens.

The Polk subs I was using are now part of the bedroom system. I now use not one, but two JL Audio e110 subs, in stereo using their own built-in crossovers. The Monitor Audio Silver 3i's are getting a fullrange signal from a pair of bridged mono NuPrime STA 9 amplifiers, dishing out a healthy 290 watts each. They're fed via Pangea XLR cables.

The main source is a Bluesound Node 2 (soon to be upgraded to the new Node 2i). It's connected to the Halo P5 with a pair of Audioquest Jaguar 32v DBS cables. Also connected via coax digital out with a Pangea Premier SE to the P5. The Pro-Ject turntable was sold long ago, the Luxman is in the bedroom system, and the Technics is at my brother's place. Currently running a Crosley C10 which is nothing more than a rebadged Pro-Ject Debut III. It sounds pretty good considering, even with the Ortofon OM5 cart on it. I'll mount up my Ortofon 2M Bronze to it, and probably upgrade to an acrylic platter. OR... I may just hold off for a bit and buy a Rega PL2 or PL3.

And not audio related, but a nice new 65" 4k UHD HDR toob!

Anyway, enough rambling. Let's see some pics!

Today I decided to move the Sonus faber's back into the main system, this time using the Chinese Choseal speaker cables. Man, NOW these Venere 1.5's sound great in here! These cables made all the difference in the world on how these Sonus faber's perform out in the main system.

Anyway, a few pics...

Man, killer system! And we shall call you "The Cable Master!"

Put the Oppo 105D back in the system, maybe temporary, maybe permanently. Helping out one of my musician friends as he's doing a "remaster" of one of his old albums and we're using my system to "proof" his work before sending it off to print, both on CD and vinyl. This may end up being a one time thing for me, or it could possibly be an on-going thing. I won't mention his name right now, but I will say that he was the music director, guitarist, wrote for, recorded and toured with Carole Fredericks, a.k.a. - Taj Mahal's sister.
