New EMIM magnets.

I have to ask as I might pursue doing the magnets IF Bobby completes a successful diaphragm replacement. I’ve looked but I’m not finding the right shape on the auction sight. Can we post a link here or maybe someone pm me with the details.

Yes, I also have four wrinkly, but fine sounding emims that I'd like to get new diaphragms for also. While I'm in there I may as well have new magnets ready to be put in, so I'd like to know which ones you are using.....the higher strength ones. Thanks!

Hi
This is the link for the N50 magnets:

This is for the N35:

I used N35, and they play fine. Losing may be a couple of db. Easily corrected with the emim pot. But you might as well buy higher strength (if they are indeed N50)

There is a seller on ebay who sells new diaphragms for EMITs (tried them, not as good as original - plastic is too thick), but he told me he’s working on repriducing the EMIM diaphragm, and it should be perfect, correct thickness. If only we could find someone to repro L-EMIMs...

In case you were unaware, Apogee still makes the excellent EMIM replacement diaphragm for our speakers. I was the owner of the first set and they are far superior to the originals. Worth every penny in listening pleasure over the years.

Hi
Thx, I'm aware. I have 8 spare original diaphragms, and it looks like there always many EMIMs for sale on ebay etc. Same for EMITs. What we need is an L-EMIM diaphragm. L-EMIMs are unobtaneum, and if one pops up for sale, they are easily in $1200 - $1500 range. I protect mine with fuses. I accept some sound deterioration in return of piece of mind :)))

I am not sure on how many per EMIM I just looked to see if I could find any that would work

I took apart a dead EMIM to check, and yes each EMIM requires 20 ea of the 50 x 5 x 3 magnets.
