Ideal operation is that the light only comes on when the tuner is receiving a STEREO SIGNAL that is being correctly decoded by the Multiplex DeCoder. If your's is staying on all the time it can indicate that there is a problem in either the tuner itself or the MPX, or the tuner and MPX need alignment by a shop.

Little red stereo indicator does not light...ever. Not set to mx-fm, fm, afc-fm. No mpx plugged into unit. Should it light w/o mpx add on? Burned out? Magic eye tube works good.

Thanks for any help.

Got to have the multiplex decoder for the Stereo light to work on FM. You have an FM mono tuner right now. And you have a lower end model by CM standards, as you have the cheapest record changer and likely an economy chassis. Better ones would have the VM changer present or a Collaro on the best models.

Hi, FYI, those MPX bulbs are not incandescent. They are a neon type bulb....type NE-2 I believe. Have you got pics of your unit? If it has the MPX bulb, it usually has the MPX unit.

I have two of these receivers. One has the MPX built right onto the chassis as like the one in the first pic, and the other one is separate on its own chassis.
