Price is too high. After a recap and a TL upgrade, if you do the work yourself, you are looking at an additional $200+ depending on your choice of caps. If you are a Polk Club member, Polk has a small discount and free shipping.

If you want top quality, almost no one argues against Mills resistors. As far as caps, take your pick.

The Polk RT-55i's are 21" tall and are, for the $$ you will pay <$200 the best sounding bookshelf speakers you can find. Next I would consider the RT-7's which are 19" high and then the RT-5's which are 14.5" high. I bought my RT-5's for $80 and they were in the original boxes.

The Polk 7's with the Peerless tweeter are a once in a lifetime speaker. After a recap, and some other tweaks, they are better than new. - go to Polk forum for instructions and parts. The 10's sound just as good, some say better. The next step up is the SDA 2's Many good deals out...

consider placing a DAC between your CDP and your amp. You can get a high quality DAC for $200-300 like the Musiland MD-10 or the Zero DAC.

You might want to consider putting a DAC between the CDP an the amp.
