    $99 Topping D30 ( DSD ) DAC + A30

I have the UMC202 and am happy with it connected to my laptop for general use. I will probably purchase the Topping D30 for my stereo system. I am only too aware of the vagaries of our hearing which was evolved to give warnings of short term danger rather than the specifics of concentration...

Luxman R-1050 Keeps Going into Protection Mode?

    My experience, see post #60 : http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/luxman-r1050-popping-sound-and-protection-mode.733690/page-3

Luxman R1050 popping sound and protection mode.

Late to this thread. I had a problem with intermittent total loss of output with my R-1050 . It was caused by D102b(VD1221), twin diode, internally opening between the two diode sections. The original part is probably unobtainable but two individual diodes in series does the job. I have since...

Connecting XLR to Standard Speaker Wire Jacks

I would go with the British Broadcasting Corporation's view. They designed the speakers.

Connecting XLR to Standard Speaker Wire Jacks

My Luxman R 1050(purchased new) is the amp I am most fond of. At present when turned on, after the time-delay relay operates I get a sound similar to waves breaking on a beach which fades away after 30 secs or so. Transistor or old PS caps, anyone? If you have intermittent cut-out I can help...

Sweet and mellow when appropriate; loud, clean and punchy when it should be. Not for doof-doofers. I admit that I am biased toward sensitive and dynamic drivers in big cabs with plenty of driving power behind them.

Source for pin and socket connectors

I was hoping that there were spade connectors on the PCB. I came up empty on Google looking for those. All I can suggest is that you email Sansui Japan with those pics and see what they can offer. Check the schematic(http://www.vintageshifi.com/repertoire-pdf/Sansui.php) for a part number. This...

One of the best vintage speakers. Even today it is hard to beat on bang for the buck if you like the Altec-style sound. They are more scarce than hens teeth here in Australia. If I could have found a pair I would have been spared a lot of toil in building from scratch.

Gee, fellas, I'll take that as an excuse to finish the story Before I continue, I want to give some background information that is relevant to how I approach things. Half-way through my Electrical Engineering degree course I ran out of money and had to get a job. I struck it lucky and joined...
