Well if anyone torture tested that amp I sure have. As you and others know I cranked it all hard enough one night to literally set one of my 15" woofers on fire. Running both BA's bridged mono, one to each 15" in a 4 way active setup with the Sansui CD-10 divider. The BA-5000 was hardly warm...

Vigman's "old beater" is one of my 2 BA-5000s and trust me he did a solid job on the repairs. I'm sort of known to push things to a limits and that amp is indestructible once its in proper working order. Congrats on the score!

Jomark911 turned me on to the CD-10 and vigman helped me procure it out of Japan a few years ago. I changed the power supply to US 120/60 and cleaned it up and it works like new. I love it! Best decision I have ever made.

Anyone have a "tried and true" substitute for these guys? Pair of each on my BA-3k driver boards. They test good but none of them match. 2 are a matched pair the other 2 I cant even find markings on them so who knows where they came from or what they actually are. Thanks in advance. -Rob

Old thread but I did run mine off the 2ohm Tap and it was very "soft". My speakers are 4 ohm nominal though and they sound great on the 4ohm taps.

Any suggestions for 2SC1845 and 2SA992 replacements? Seems the Sansui subs list does not show any and all the threads I have searched are a bit dated.

As long as its not that old Kapton wire that shorted out and caused plane crashes due to brittle and chaffed insulation.

Were the pics bad? or just the horrible repairs that made me want to cry also :(
