Realistic Nova 9 - recap help

Madisound in Wisconsin sells a 16uf capacitor. $7 each M.D.L. is the brand. I have ordered from them at least six times.

Radio Shack Optimus 7 Woofer replacement

The closest woofer I found to use is the Criterion 2002a or 2002+ woofer. The basket is the same as the Optimus 7 so you won't have to widen the woofer hole. Other woofer brands frames are a little too large. Who ever makes these woofer are the same company that makes the Optimus 7 woofers...

    Pioneer CS-A770 value

I saw a pair of these for sale on the bay 5 years ago and they were asking about 800. I don't think they sold. I would think they are worth that since these were never offered here in the US. and having a larger cab than the CS 88a and 99a the bass extension would be deeper. They were in...

    Jensen System C speakers

The tweeters are Audax. I'm told the mids are from Japan and woofers are Rola. They seem to sound on the bright side to me compared to some legacy speakers I have..

Do different vendor crossover caps really sound all that different?

I can assure anyone that a Audyn Q-4 capacitor sounds sounds soft/dull compared to a Audyn Cap-Plus capacitor.

    Pioneer CS-905 issues

Those STS 1500's were the last of the Large Optimus speakers...Anyway, It could be a relay inside the pioneers that need attention if they have a relay. Probably need to take the woofer out and see what's in there. I'm sure someone with more experience and knowledge will chime in.. Or have...

    Pioneer CS-905 issues

Barrowed from the Web. My guess is the speakers are the problem since the STS 1500s played fine.

    MCS Speakers Any Good?

I have recently bought a pair of these 8239 speakers from FB market place.. Did the re-foam job and new Clarity capacitors. They are warmer sounding (stronger in the lower mid range) than the 8225 and 8229 that preceded the 8239. I thought that the 8239s were light in weight compared to the...

    Jensen System C speakers

For the most part I used Dayton, I think I used a Solen for the 8uf I got from Madisound. And I believe I used a Audyn Q4 for the 68uf. I don't think Parts Express sells a 8uf in their lower priced polycap selection. I believe most are 250volt which is kind of a standard. The Q4 may be a...

    Jensen System C speakers

    I saved my old caps and here is what they are... 2- 66uf, 2- 32uf, 2- 20uf, 2- 14uf, 2- 8uf, 2- 4uf, 2- 2.7uf, and 4- 2uf. 18 caps in total.. I used a 68uf in place of the 66uf and a 33uf in place of the 32uf and a 15uf in place of the 14uf as it was difficult to find those odd size...

Radio shack Optimus 7 1973 floor speakers

Almost all the mids from the four pair of Optimus 7 I had, had that same separating as yours. Very nice job you did. I used super glue on some of mine and it ate some of the black paint on the flange. I leaned my lesson. Lol. And I agree with the tweeter output extension with new caps. I...

“Never seen before” Realistic speakers questions

Those speakers are from 1989 and are part of a rack system that retailed for $799. I worked at Radio Shack for a short time around then and there is nothing special about these speakers.

    Speaker id (mcs?)

Those are the later version of the 8225. The service # should say 683-8225-01. The earlier version last digits are-00. Those drivers are EAS brand in the -01. The earlier (00) woofers were 4ohm. EAS are 8 ohm. Stuarts Photo shows the United Speaker version. Earlier version.

Removing spider from basket/Realign/Reuse. What to remove it with?

That's what I'm probably going to do. I'm going to meet up with my tech buddy tomorrow and go from there. It must some epoxy and not glue cause it never soften the "epoxy" in the least.

Removing spider from basket/Realign/Reuse. What to remove it with?

Thanks to to you all! I'm going to Menards and buy some Toluol/Toluene. The woofer is a United Speaker used in the MCS 683-8226. I just need to re-set the spider. Don't want to cut as I cannot find a spider exactly like the original. The after market stuff is too tall, too short, not wide...

Removing spider from basket/Realign/Reuse. What to remove it with?

Its a 40 year old woofer that is in great condition. So is the spider. I just need to realign the spider. I've tried MEK as recommended by audio people on the internet. How long does it take to work? I've been at it for a hour now and apply about every 10 min. Still not lifting.
