The Marantz HD'S that I listened to sounded very transparent. However I have some L36 decades that sound exceptional and they are apparently are one of the lower models in the vintage line. Never heard the 4312's but I am sure they will sound good. Probably better drivers than in my l36's

The best sounding IMHO are the Boston a-200's. Better than the 400's and the 150's. I'm particularly partial to the seas tweeter version. They cost me about $200-250. I did have them restored with new film caps and new stands. So imo that price is a little too high.

Thanks for that info on the woofers. If these speakers are from 1970 then Teledyne was the owner if I remember what I read about the company. Being sold in 1966 or 68 to Teledyne if I am not mistaken. That would also imply that AR5 was a creation of Teledyne? I will provide a couple of pics...

Had the pots cleaned and deoxed and found out that these are the original woofers. So me and everyone else except "the speaker magnate" was wrong. Recapped, reconed, and refoamed. The ar5's are ar3a's with a 10 inch woofer. And sounding wonderful.
