Sansui 8080db won’t come out of protection

It dialed in great with the final off DBT...thanks for the help...sometime just talking things “out loud” helps locate the issue.

Sansui 8080db won’t come out of protection

I went ahead for good measure and replaced the rest of the the transistors on the F-2624 driver board as well as the the (2) 24v zener with 1N5252B...still same results

I also already changed out the two VD1212 with 1n4148 in series as well but had failed to mention that.

Sansui 8080db won’t come out of protection

I have a DBT but this unit was working so I haven’t been too concerned about running it on it. Both the blue and grey wires feeding the protection board when measured independently for DC voltage with the negative on the chassis read about -53.3vDC

Sansui 8080db won’t come out of protection

So this 8080db has been fully cleaned, recapped and all the fusible resistors have been replaced. While continuing to troubleshoot the F-2624 driver board I went ahead and put in ksa1220 in TR05-06 and ksc1845 in TR01-04. I have triple checked all of my orientations (capacitors and transistors)...

    Pioneer SX-950 Dead AM/FM Tuner

I’ve got all the stations coming in now relatively accurate to the dial on FM...some better than others and some cleaner than others...some have a bit of distortion and some have a bit of fuzziness with less focus but they’re all there and I’ve heard worse for sure. Even on the best channels...

    Pioneer SX-950 Dead AM/FM Tuner

Making some progress on the FM and was able to get the stations below about 98 to come in loud and fairly focused. They also are now aligned to the dial as well. The Tuning meter deflects to the center when tuned on a station and the signal meter stays on zero. No stereo separation yet nor...

    Pioneer SX-950 Dead AM/FM Tuner

So after replacing all 3 ICs, I have AM and was able to dial it in with good full reception with appropriate meter response. The FM has static that does not fluctuate across the dial. When inspecting the points of adjustments there was definitely evidence of someone fiddling with just about...

    I also took HA1137 readings: 1) 148mVDC 2) 150mVDC 3) 150mVDC 4) 0.0VDC 5) -1.38VDC 6) 97mVDC 7) 120mVDC 8) 112mVDC 9) 97mVDC 10) 525mVDC 11) 14.04VDC 12) 0.0VDC 13) 0.0VDC 14) 0.0VDC 15) 0.0VDC 16) 0.0VDC Obviously issues here too. Both IC Chips Bad?

    Pioneer SX-950 Dead AM/FM Tuner

Also, I have all 3 Pioneer ICs on hand if need be but I don’t want to just shotgun replace those since they aren’t easy to find anymore. If I’m going to lift the board again to work on it, I preferably only want to do that once if at all possible by doing the troubleshooting beforehand versus...

    Pioneer SX-950 Dead AM/FM Tuner

I ended up finishing out the restoration on the amp board so the rest of the unit is spot on. Only the tuner remains. Here’s some voltages I’ve observed. pins 20,28,32 all read 0.0VDC as they should as grounds pin 25 reads 14.14VDC (which is what my feed actually is as well) pin 26 reads...

    Pioneer SX-950 Dead AM/FM Tuner

It’s definitely not a cleaning issue. All of the boards underneath have been recapped now (power supply, protection, phono, tone and preamp) and all of the selection controls were cleaned then as well. In addition to the 13VDC on Pin 34 and 22 I also confirmed 7.5VAC on Pin 35. I went ahead...

    Pioneer SX-950 Dead AM/FM Tuner

I’m servicing an SX-950 currently that will be getting a recap once I get the needed tuner repair done. This SX-950 has a dead AM and FM tuner. No deflections in the meters and no real sound on either AM or FM input (no static on FM etc.) The power supply pins on the topside tuner board read...
