That's true, also about choices, which voice does one listen to, as with all of us. When you're on point it matters, the responsibility of it, in either direction.

Besides WOW, very entertaining read. Great story.

I remember when lawyers and doctors were not permitted to advertise their services. You had to look them up. Recommendations were powerful. This was during a time cigarettes and booze were openly advertised on media, radio and TV. I think, overall, it's been a loss, a big one.

    Quad 33 Spare parts wanted

You seem to be asking can it be fixed. It can definitely be fixed, only thing that might create a real problem is the power transformer which rarely fails. Nice unit, great build factor.

Very good. Maintains the duality without sacrificing one for the other.

    Lab 80

Thanks, now I know. For information purposes I paid 99 dollars for it plus tax at a discount department store... White Front should anybody remember it, southern California.

    Lab 80

I bought a brand new one and it came packaged with a Shure M44, not sure about the-7. The sylus housing was brown in color. Great looking machine. It was a MK II and the tone arm was covered at the rear by the housing.

Old timers who had good stereo systems in the late 50s/early 60s - how did they compare to today?

Well, there you go Natasha. Good read. An unlimited budget can get amazing results. I remember those disclaimers on early CDs but don't remember the hiss on seventies and later LPs. Production... who knows. I have some CDs that are quite wonderful and I have some records that are equally...

Old timers who had good stereo systems in the late 50s/early 60s - how did they compare to today?

Yeah...indeed, especially cost to performance ratio. Just thinking here, for those thinking superior, it begs what is meant by superior. You know, on any particular day I could find myself taking either side. Kind of depends on what I might be listening to, there's something to be said about...

Personally here, I'd grant you often but not always. Its the not always that carry knowledge from experience and are well worth consideration.

Old timers who had good stereo systems in the late 50s/early 60s - how did they compare to today?

A friend of mine had that exact system, brought it home after a tour in Vietnam. Still has it, I rebuilt the amp, serviced the table and repaired the speakers, spider came loose from frame. The system still sounds great. That is a solid amp.

Stacked Quads are awesome. There is a sweet spot but in that location, especially in that location, they are awesome.

True, it's also what Mercury meant. Look at the legs on that thing, powerful and sure footed. I bet that thing can scramble. Great ears, not much of a tail, performance built.

    Global Warming insurance?

Anything to raise rates. Was thinking of Martha's Vineyard, even the Statue of Liberty. Talk about sea level. Then there's Manhattan, isn't it an island...

It was hacked in design. Trivia concerns provide opportunity. I see a new category on the porn sites, and who's to know who is who unless there is need to know. Bathroom humor knows no limit :)

Like so many other things. I know, an autonomous lid. A bit of mechanism, an ECU to manage operations and a video sensor, otherwise known as a camera, but, you know, labeling and all... but anyway, let the lid take care of the situation automatically, it will know what to do.

Well, this is fun. Not because it's the correct thing to do but because it is a thoughtful thing to do I always put the seat down, wouldn't want to set down without it myself... as an add, I think for them, the girls, it has to do with having to touch the thing, reach down and get hold of it...

Garrard LAB 80 in the house.

I bought one brand new from a department store in southern California in 1967, might have been 66. It came packaged with a Shure M44 cartridge. Girls loved the wood on the tone arm. It was indeed an attractive turntable. It has a very heavy and balanced platter, brass balance weights on...

Received my Koss Pro 4AA back from Koss.

I had HD 424s. Were very nice, great sounding and super comfortable. For best sound needed to be directly over the ear. Seems like they were eighty dollars. One could use them with big speakers as they are open air, good combination. Looks like the foam pads are available. The connecting...
