Good question. No envy, I think it's gear I would have had if I had been a gearhead in the 70's. As far as how it sounds, I like it, no other reason needed.

Necro post, SX-939 here with Linton and Denton 85's. You should be fine unless you like concert levels. The Dentons really need a sub, though. The Lintons are a fantastic speaker, go for it!

Why not just use the speaker level inputs?

Bose made some decent electronics back in the day, before BPC. I disagree, though, with the decent speakers comment by Sansuiman. I can't think of one decent example. Please post if you have speaker in mind!

My 999 is currently being used as a pre-amp for a Pass Amp Camp Amp. Doesn't get much better, IMO.

How do they sound together?

Mine have no trouble with the Magnepan LRS, but I'm not trying to peel paint.
