How much to spend on cables?

The funniest thing about this is my system only amounts to about £1100. I read on a Google article that comes onto my iPad, that you should spend about 10 - 15% of your system’s total cost on cables. My interconnects are no more than £50 each cable. My speaker wire is 14 gauge (I think) wire...

How much to spend on cables?

Gosh it’s been ages since I’ve been here! When we’re told to spend 15% of our system’s value on cables, does that mean on each cable or pair of cables, or on all system cables combined?

End of an Era: Queen Elizabeth II dead at 96.

I am absolutely gutted. It’s going to take a good while to sink in. I loved Queen Elizabeth II so much more in the last decade or so. It still doesn’t seem real. I’m weeping like she was my mother instead of The Queen. Thank you guys for the lovely words.

The unusual thing about these 3 records is that if you turn over side 1, you don’t see side 2 but side 6. The other side of 2 is side 5 but side 3 turned over has side 4. Strange but true. The music is slower than some other versions but I prefer it like that. Such fantastic music shouldn’t be...

Listening to this on Spotify until I get this as my next LP Record. I absolutely love this music. The track I’m listening to so far, is “My man’s gone now” and my goodness, he likes playing those cymbals lol. It sounds like he got them for Christmas and he’s making certain that everyone is going...

I forgot I had this record and found it while looking for an Ella Fitzgerald LP and I decided to give it a spin, trying out the little dot mkII preamp. the music is superb and her voice was crystal clear. The instruments were very distinct and the bass, deep and tight. it's the most enjoyable...

I’ve connected the Little Dot MkII amp as a preamp

I forgot to ask, how do I identify what identifying number for valves that fit the bigger ones at the back of the little dot mkII?

I’ve connected the Little Dot MkII amp as a preamp

I set the little dot aside a while ago as I was using it as a headphone amp to drown out the wife’s telly. I got a pair of closed cup phones that did the trick instead, so I forgot about the LD. I was reading about phono stages and remembered someone say it can be used as a phono preamp. So I...

I’ve connected the Little Dot MkII amp as a preamp

The main amp was already on because the TV was on it. Then I switched on the preamp, I set the selector to phono and heard it was sounding. After that one track, I switched off the preamp. Looks like I did everything the wrong way round. Now I think about it, I see why it went that way. Thanks...

I’ve connected the Little Dot MkII amp as a preamp

I’ve connected the Little Dot MkII amp as a preamp And spun a record to test I’d connected it ok. I only gave it as long as 1 track. When I switched off the Little Dot, I got that loud pop noise. It gave me a fright. Is there a safer, quieter sequence in switching it off? Or do I just turn down...

This record starts with a very quiet part and I’m so pleased that there wasn’t a single pop or click right from when the stylus touched down. Very nice music for me and the cat to chill to.

The sleeve for this record has a woven cloth type of texture. I’m really enjoying this. I love charity shop records.
