AM section on the Sony STR-6045 I just got is dead. Amber AM light lights up but no static, no audio. FM Mono and stereo are fine. How do I connect an AM loop and bypass the ferrite rod to see if it is the built in antenna causing the problem?

I have been mainly looking for a nice 6065 or 7065 from positive info here on AK. What about the "V" series? Did they come later and are more modern (ic's, etc)? How is the sound signature compared to the 6 and 7 series? I found a nice V4 for $35o shipped? thx bob
