I can separate the amps use one plate for one amp but that would still tie the right and left channel speaker grounds together any thoughts?

Years ago before I had learned how to put together a system that worked the way I liked used the loud control quite a bit. Now it is only a matter of turning up the volume.

We are remodeling our cellar want to change the speaker wall plates. They are now plastic keeping the speaker grounds from the two amplifiers separated. Want to replace the plastic wall plates with stainless steel which will tie the two amps speaker grounds together. Will that cause problems?

Obviously the answers are from opinionated users. I agree with all because of the listeners ears, budget, where the speakers have to sit. My preference puts the LaScalla at the top go figure.

Years ago when doing gigs and sometimes in large halls an audio friend suggested using an ocilloscope to get a feel for output and watch for clipping. That was eye opening, once you see a clipped signal then listen for the sound you will be truly educated.
