    Pioneer SX-_2_ Re-Cap Need

Don’t know if you have chosen yet, but I have used both and had better success with Wargo. John has done two 1280’s for me. One I had worked on at the other location and had to take it to John to get it fixed.

You will not be able, to pass a GW ever again without wondering if you should stop or resist scouring CL for pieces to complete your setup. Apologize to your wife now....it only gets worse. Issue with Pioneer SX 1280 on AFCI circuit

So, this thread has been hanging out there awhile and I thought I would post an update. I was not making any headway so in the beginning of August I took both 1280’s to John Wargo. Multi-volt: It took two rounds and a total of 7 weeks to fix all the issues. Evidently there was more wrong...

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

So I put in a 1200uf 16v cap, had it laying around, and it made the difference. It is about a 6sec timing now. No more speaker pop. Thanks for all the help. Now that I have tunes again, back to the 1280.:)

Issue with Pioneer SX 1280 on AFCI circuit

Thanks Larry. I decided to use a different meter tonite. It's a cheaper one but has worked pretty well in the past. My Fluke was borrowed and hasn't come back.

Issue with Pioneer SX 1280 on AFCI circuit

Checked C3 and C16, both are installed correctly based upon power flow. Getting a new timing cap. Ok so I haven't touched this thing for the past 5 weeks. So tonite I just took measurements of PA3004 and observed. I held on each Pin to verify whether stable or not. (Q1 is still out for these)...

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

Already done. 1000uf 6.3V. Improved the delay. Speaker pop not as intense, but still there. It occurs as the relay engages.

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

Installed d23 last night. No change. Still speaker pop. Rechecked DC offset, good. Am thinking I will recheck D.C. Bias but that requires some desoldering, will do later today. Any other suggestions?

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

Yes, but not as bad. So I still want to track down the issue. Diodes are arriving today. I will replace d23 to see if that helps.

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

I pulled the 470uf and put in a 1000uf 6.3V to see how it would do. It double the relay time. About 4sec. I am still going to go back thru and replace the d23 diode to see if it is causing issues.

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

Thanks for any info you can provide. I plan on upping the timing cap but also want to make sure I'm not masking other issues that might come back to bite me later.

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

Thanks. I think I will get the originals to see how it works.

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

I did. I pulled it from the circuit and used the diode test on my DMM. It measured .435V. From researching I believe 1N60 Germanium Diodes should have a forward bias of .32V. It would seem the existing diode is failing. If Im wrong please educate me.

Pioneer SX-880 Relay Keeps Clicking On/Off

OK, so I am resurrecting this thread.....It is doing it again. It will work solid with no issues for days or weeks. (In fact as I am writing this it is working nicely-:dunno: ) Then it will randomly start up again. Power on, then 6 seconds the relay engages and immediately disengages, then 6...

Is the BAT41 diode a good replacement. http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/STMicroelectronics/BAT41/?qs=JV7lzlMm3yLsDyxobuLK1w%3D%3D&gclid=CP7v1Nvz_tQCFRdXDQodbNQACA

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

Yes, volume is at zero. Tone and filters are off. I will double checked the ground of C23 and it is on the same as the emitter of TR29. What is a good replacement for D23? I figure if I have to order a few things I might as well get as much as I can to save on shipping. Checked d23 out of...

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

Thanks Pete for the reply. (I was thinking about using the sansui while I keep working on the pioneer) I pulled and checked the cap last night. It is installed based upon the markings on the board. I know there are mistakes sometimes, do you know if the board markings for C23 are correct? Two...

Sansui AU-7700 Speaker pop when Relay clicks

Speaker pop when relay engages. The relay engages at about two seconds from turn on. Otherwise no issues. This thing sounds awesome with HPM-100s. The following work was performed based upon much reading on this forum. This is a fully recapped unit, all based upon what was original to unit...

Issue with Pioneer SX 1280 on AFCI circuit

Sorry Mark, Those were my notes and I didn't realize that they had posted. A lot going on this week and I now have to go out of town for the next few weeks. If I don't answer or post it is not because I have lost interest, but I will be in Europe on and off the grid. I will be able to focus on...
