Marantz 2245 preamp tone board (P400) doubts

Oh! Thanks, no wonder I couldn't find them at Mouser. Could you tell me exactly which one of those C408/411/415/414/410/407/404/403 are bipolar ones?

Marantz 2245 preamp tone board (P400) doubts

Thanks for reply. I've seen in one of your posts using all brown electrolytic caps replacing original white ones. Are those silmic 2s or Silmic RBS bipolars? Can we replace bipolars with polarized caps or vice versa? Do you have a Mouser part number for RBS biploars. Thanks.

Marantz 2245 preamp tone board (P400) doubts

Hi fellow AKers, I'm in the middle of recapping the 2245 and while looking at those original Elna white caps at C408/411/415/414/410/407/404/403 to replace with suitable Elna caps.... Are those white caps bipolar or polarised ones? It seems C411/415 & C414/410 are even connected in series. Are...

    Marantz 2245 input selector issue

Hi guys, My 2245 input selector had gone mushy ( no clicks) and after a few more try went totally stuck. So I've decided to pull them off and check. After taking apart the shaft and removing the c-clip, I've given a thorough clean using a specialist contact cleaner and left it for a while and...

Which is the best Marantz receiver?

My first Marantz gear is a PM6004, which is neither a receiver nor vintage. I very much liked it for two reasons, it's a made in Japan unit (rare for a PM6004) and second, got it for a bargain price! Anyway, PM6004 got me hooked and started my search for vintage Marantz gear and found a Marantz...

    Rega Owner's Thread

Yes, i've tried different belts. Now using the red silicon belt and prior to that it was even worse! Not sure about the sub platter shape. But i have checked the pencil tip test and found no issues. I have even replaced the motor suspension belt and stick the motor directly to the plinth with...

    Rega Owner's Thread

My Rega Planar 3 (bought second hand) have some speed variation issue. It never touches 33.3rpm. It rotates like 32.6-32.9, continuously varying up and down. Any idea?? It has an AC synchronous motor and a simple PCB.

    Marantz 1250 Recap/Restore

So if they are excellent ones, why do most people replace them with aluminum electrolytics instead of a new tantalum. Are new electrolytics better in any other means... But why the manufacturer had chosen tantalums over aluminum electrolytics in those places....is cost/size one of the factors...

    Marantz 1250 Recap/Restore

Oh! that makes sense and sounds logical too. So will it be actually a trade off between supreme sound quality & long reliability or what? Joe, I've also noticed a generous use of tantalum caps in original 1250, (stated as electrolytic caps in the service manual) especially in the Mic/phono &...

Marantz Model 1250 Full service/upgrade...please advise

I'll be also upgrading the standard power cable to an IEC type UK plug. The existing cable is a very short & thin one and it's an Aussie plug which I think changed by previous owner. I already have an Isotek Evo03 premier power cable and Furutech 3 prong IEC inlet lying around and can make...

    Vintage Integrated Amplifier Recommendations

How about a Marantz 1250 or 1300? I've recently bought a Marantz 1250.(1300 is a very rare amp) Two of the most powerful int amps ever built by Marantz during late 70s. They sounds fantastic even with so many years of toil...if you finds a good one for a reasonable price get it and do a...

It seems most of you have got gd results with DeOxit D5 spray. So I'm gonna get one and start work the obvious thing first....cleaning! Can I use DeOxit D5 to clean the PCBs as well(some soldering points are brownish and it's quite waxy too)?
