    Kenwood KA 8006 amp questions

Years later but.. I just realized this. Was using with a couple of HPM-60s and it was quite tinny sound, now (temporarily) hooked it on to a couple of simple Minimus 7 and wow they sound different. Need some better speakers indeed.

Any idea which speakers could these be?

Hi, Akers, anybody can wildly guess which speakers these could be? They've been placed in a local ad and I couldn't find any more information yet (and they're far from home) Thanks!

    Sansui SR-1050/SR-2050 Lateral weight: dimensions

Hi guys, I have a Sansui SR-1050 turntable (afaik almost the same thing as the 2050 except for the automation and maybe some bells and whistles) and it's missing the "lateral weight" (the bigger one in the right at the photo below) so I'm trying to see if I can find some workshop that can make...

Just got me a pair of Polk 7B - One of them doesn't sound right

No problem :) I sent the speaker to an expert and he fixed it.. Somehow I didn't test them right and now I connected them to a Marantz 140 and they sounded great. But the other speaker failed a bit and just touching the fuse it would work.

    Cartridge holder

Oh yeah this a new one, made in China :) Cover is not glass but acrylic which is probably better, safe and less heavy. The handle is nice indeed! By the way the wood is harder to drill than I thought lol

    Akai am-2200 recurring nightmare!

Oh that's the issue in a lot of occasions.. I had that problem with the amp I connect to my computer. Tried a few, my Yamaha is currently a success lol no humming (or very low) I did use some grounding but still, others wouldn't stop the noise even with earth connected (granted, not the best...

Kenwood KSQ-400 and KA-8006/The Quadrophonic Way - How to connect

Hi guys, I've bought sometime ago a minty KA-8006 and I'm enjoying it a lot. At the same time I've become interested in old quad (non CD4) stuff, so I got me a KSQ-400 Decoder/Amp (first I tried a beautiful Pioneer preamp, but sadly it didn't work and had to return it) While buying the KA-8006...

    Burned my Yamaha CA-2010 (CA-2000)...

Thank you @tarior and @audiotemp - yeah there's a problem with the quad preamp indeed. Tested it in the audio shop and it was ok but I guess it's a matter of time, when I left it on for a while there issues started to come up (fortunately the seller is a GREAT guy no problem to return it). My...

    Burned my Yamaha CA-2010 (CA-2000)...

I read in a Kenwood thread "Fortunately, there are no self-destruct buttons on the outside of most gear", and I thought immediately of what just happened to me. It all begins with a Quad Pioneer preamp. It was acting up with my SA-9100 so I decided to try with another power amp, and I picked my...

    Yamaha YP-D6 Straight arm?

Hi! Yes thanks to the manual I could adjust the gear to make it work with the play/cut button. Also that levelled the plate. Rest seems sorta fine to me, though I didn't take off the lid at the bottom (not proficient enough). The tonearm seems to be an easy replacement as per manual... maybe...

    Yamaha YP-D6 Straight arm?

Hi AK! I just bought this YP-D6 turntable, quite minty, very happy with it, but noticed the tonearm is straight instead of S curved as the original. Could it be an alternate model or maybe it was changed? Play/Cut works perfectly to return the arm to its resting position, but it doesn't...

    Tannoy T115/Cambridge - Custom Grills

Hi everyone, I've just bought me a pair of Tannoy T115, really eager to get them (will be shipped). A picture from the seller below. Some call them Cambridge, but I saw a picture of the Cambridge and they say Cambridge in the label. So not sure if they're the same. Anyway - I've learned they...

Another possible change of gear: PL-530 Turntable for PL-1200A

Oh it's never too late as our very audio toys can prove :D anyway after this time I let go of the PL1200A and I got by pure luck *Another* PL530 which was way cheap for our market and in a much better condition too. I took the best parts and made a really nice one. The lettering on the old one...

    Sansui SR1050 vs SR2050 - Slipmat/Platter size

Hi AK! I have a Sansui SR1050 without a slipmat. I found one online but it's for the SR2050.. They seem to be the same size, shape, all.. But anyone can confirm that? Thanks a lot!

Anybody with a sansui SR-1050 can help me to reassemble it?

Hi guys I just got a SR-1050C turntable (badly packaged.. Some things broke doh) and trying to reassemble the mess. For now I'm stuck on this (dumb!) problem.. How should I put this screw in to hold the platter together? Maybe someone with this tt can help me out.. Couldn't find a picture in...
