Hi, A good friend brought me a H/K 3500 receiver. Problem is it's stuck on function tape 1, 2 and video. Both red and green LED's a lit all the time.on these three functions Trying to choose any other function will not change. Has anyone seen this problem on this particular model and does anyone...
Thanks for the answers, in the meantime I found out that as you say, Blue Shadow, it is cap C143 which the service manual parts list says is a .047F 5.5V super capacitor. Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer.
Try contacting Bose ( a long shot ). I have found H/K knobs at a HamFest. Ebay is your best bet, people post parts from scraped and stripped down units.
I use several units, depending on what I'm looking for. My go to is the Electronic Design Specialists 88A cap analyzer ESR tester, the Blue ESR tester by AnaTek, ESI 2160 Bridge, and a Lutron hand held cap meter.
ESR is the common problem with aging electrolytic caps. Don't be fooled by just...
I have a TX-400U Natural Sound tuner that no longer holds the programmed stations in . When powered up, it does not play the last station listened to when it was last powered up. Most of the time it displays 1010 AM, a station that has not even been programed into it's program memory. I figure...
As stated by drjim, I also keep all the hardware such as screws, washers,, nuts, etc. from old VCR's and other units that I have scrapped over the years. I have a tobacco tin full of them and it's been a savior many a time.
As stated by avionic, 20Mhz is more than enough for what you want to do. If budget is a factor, check your local second hand stores or online for a used scope. Get a 2 channel one, makes such as Tektronix, Philips, and leader are good makes.
I finished resurrecting my friends C11 preamp. He now wants to hook it up to headphones and he went and bought he Little Bear B10 headphone preamplifier adapter. How should it go about connecting it if he even should. I have seen a few good reviews about their B4-X on the interweb. Thanks in...
Now that I got my friend's C11 up and running there is just one problem left to resolve. The lights don't work. Tried both the original filament type bulbs that all tested good and the LED replacements that he purchased. I get voltage readings at the sockets, I tightened the sockets to assure...
UPDATE: I completed the recapping today! and good news, the C11 works like new. I used the 3 electrolytic caps from the C Tech kit and not the re-stuffing kit from HiFiaudio a.k.a Captain Fantastic. Measured the B+ rails and got the following results : B+1 = 308.5 V, B+2 = 289.4 V, B+3 = 260.3...
Stay away from this ebay seller known as Captain Fantastic and HiFiaudio on ebay. A crook and dishonest person. Doesn't supply instructions with his McIntosh C11 re-cap kits. He charges big money for inferior parts and does not support what he sells. Ebay should kick this fraud off their platform!
After several email to the ebay seller HiFiAudio ( who sold the kit for $145 ) requesting that the installation instructions be forwarded to me, he refuses to send them. I think that he is hiding something and is very un co-operative. I suggest that AKers avoid this seller and as MACKIE1975...
Yes MACKIE1975, this is the seller and yes this is a shady way to make a ebay listing. I don't believe in re-stuffing caps except in the case of wanting to maintain the look of the chassis on vintage radios. I have since contacted the owner of the C11 to see what he wants to do. he told me to...
Also I should add, he purchased a second kit from C TECH ELECTRONICS that has the proper big can electrolytic caps instead of what appears to be a series of caps intended for re-capping by stuffing them into the original cap cans.
Actually it's a friend of mine who owns the C11, and yes MACKIE1975, he purchased the "kit" from HifiAudio seller on ebay for big $$$. He told me that he then tried to email them to get the instructions and got into an argument with them which ended badly, hence, he didn't get the instructions...
I have a McIntosh C11 preamp and want to install a mod kit purchased on ebay. It is a mod kit for a complete re-capping, and power supply up-grade. It didn't come with instructions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would prefer to get away from using the exposed foam cushions and get replacements that I don't have to replace every few years and are also easy to clean. There must be someone who knows of another ear cushion that will fit.
I dug my old Koss HV-1A's out and the foam ear pads which I already replace some 20+ years ago are crumbling like the first ones did..I was never a fan of the foam pads. Are there another Koss ear pad that is not foam that I can replace them with ?. I checked with Koss and they are out of stock...
