    SX-1280 Tuner Alignment, issue/question.

Zeb, I have a Kiethley and they are sweet! If you do decide to buy one, I was warned about the VFD. A lot of these units sit on a bench somewhere running 24x7 and the VFD is very dim. You can still buy new VFD replacements but you may not want the extra expense or bother. There are lots...

Timer Needed. Not audio but what the heck.

I was on Mouser today looking at counters and didn't see this one because I had Through Hole selected as a filter. This is a pretty good solution. Just need to see if I can find a through hole version instead of SMT. Sadly Mouser and Digikey have no through hole versions.

Thanks for your input rcs16. An MCU might be a bit extreme for this simple project but it sounds like fun.

Timer Needed. Not audio but what the heck.

Even if it synced to the 60Hz from an outlet it would stay on time.

Timer Needed. Not audio but what the heck.

I've used 555 timers before but how would one produce a 1 second pulse every minute EXACTLY so the clock stays on time? It would take forever to tune the timing and then it would probably still drift. Another thought I've had is to build a divide by 3600 circuit and use 60Hz AC from a mains...

Timer Needed. Not audio but what the heck.

I have an old clock from a factory. The minute hand is advanced by a 1 second 24v pulse every minute. This 24v pulse was originally provided by the punch clock that the display clock was connected to but I don't have the punch clock. So, I'm looking for a timer that is intended to be as accurate...

    Spec 2 in protection

Could definitely be the protection circuit. I had a protection issue on my SPEC 4. I replaced Q12 (2SC869) on each of the amp boards with KSC1845FTA. That did the trick. Not sure how similar the SPEC 2 protect circuit is to the SPEC 4 but the thread is here if you are interested...

    Spec 2 in protection

Section 4.3 of the service manual describes the protection circuit and all of its functions. If it were me, I'd put it on a dim bulb tester to see if you have a short (dim bulb tester stays brightly lit). Then unplug the amp boards and see if it comes out of protection. Be VERY careful with the...

    Pioneer Spec 4 mishap

Don't want to step on Zeb's toes here but I would check for continuity between the output transistors and the heatsink they are mounted on.

    Exclusiv line m3 vs m4

First, none of the Exclusive line were made for the North American market so you will likely need to buy from Japan and will need step down transformers (115v or 120v to 100v). The step down transformer for the amplifier will need to be beefy to ensure you don't have any voltage drop. I'd go...

Replacing filter caps on SA-9500ii from 12K uF to 15K uF

Depends on how much headroom Pioneer engineers left when calculating what fuses to use. Larger capacitors means more inrush current when powering on. Read this cautionary tale: https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/pioneer-spec-1-keeps-blowing-fuses.492947/#post-6402054

    Pioneer TZ-7 Speakers + Elite VSX 97

It's likely someone on here may know a speaker repair place local to you but we don't know your location. How do you know the tweeter is not functioning? Also note the following from the TZ-9 service manual: I don't have a TZ-7 service manual so I don't know if their crossover network has a...
