My 780 was recap and transistors replaced before I bought it. I blown two sets of darlingtons the first month I had it I think it's been a year now that I did the mod. Well worth the time and money.

I had the same concerns. It's really not that bad. Strip the old case,fix any damage, and watch some youtube videos on how to veneer. What is the Measurement of the case. I'm thinking I have a leftover piece big enough I could send you.

Jenkster I'm not familiar with the case on the 737. Is it wood now or vinyl. I just did my daughter's sx790. With a heat gun the vinyl came off easy. This was my second time working with veneer. Just follow some simple steps and you should be ok

I had the same dilemma. The 1010 was already recap when I bought it. I pick up the 1080 from and estate auction. When I found out about the hard to find parts I decided not to keep it. It's still on the self covered up. I keep telling myself it would help pay for a 1250.

I have a Le 5-2 mid that is reading 0. I'm thinking about opening it up to see if a wire is broken. I don't feel any drag when I push in on the cone. Would it be better to cut the dust cap off or just removing the magnet to take a look see. Has anyone have any advice for me.
