    HELP !! Please Leak amplifier

I insert baxandall tone stack into the leak tl/50 amp. but it's not working. When I remove the ground wire the amp plays fine. see the schematics here: http://www.44bx.com/leak/Leak/Circuits/tl50_ecc83.JPG I placed the baxandall between the ef86 and the 12ax7 and all values are the same except...

    Help! No Bass Leak TL/50

Thank you for responding. I found the problem which was the Kindle Fire I used as source; it was the input. Apparently, it was not able to drive the amp to full power. I have a small preamp(solid state) DJpre 11 which I stuck between the Kindle Fire and the Leak. Oh my God, the bass almost lift...

    Help! No Bass Leak TL/50

Wow, disconnected the NFB and the bass is much much better; the treble is wicked( When I grounded the NFB it result in poor volume and distortion). OK, what can I do about the damping factor? Let me ask, the KT88s are electroharmonix with a load resistance of 3000ohms but the transformer is...

    Help! No Bass Leak TL/50

I build the Leak TL/50 from scratch, point to point, following the schematic. Some of the voltages are a bit high: EF86 165 (should be 150); 12ax7 315v (should be 300) Kt88 plates 478- cathode to plate voltage 425v. across cathode 45v ;resistor ohms 493. The treble is wonderful but the bass is...

    Help Shock! Please

I terminated the shield on the audio cable at the preamplifier end, and ran a ground wire from the the bus-bar of the power amplifier to the bus-bar of the preamplifier. Everything turned out great!

    Help Shock! Please

Gadget73, I thank you and everyone for your time and expertise. I am just learning so my response must be taken in that light. Now, my understanding from the manual is this(let me clarify this first; it's not a kit; I built it from scratch-point to point). The earth ground from the power would...

    Help Shock! Please

I built the Mullard 2 valve preamp but whenever the power amp is on and I try to this connect the audio cable from the preamp or the power amp (Mullard5-20) it provides a nasty shock. Mullard did not mention this; but Stern built the same preamp and clearly stated that there will be an electric...

    WOW. Help! Monster Amp

Really appreciate your response. I found this Dynaco v1 manual: http://www.hafler.com/pdf/dynaco/DynacoMarkVImanual.pdf But tubes are different , 8417 instead of KT88. I am not looking for perfection. I know the output tranny is the heart of any tube amp. Would any of you use a Edcor tranny...

    WOW. Help! Monster Amp

I love this schematic by David Hafler(dynaco). It seems easy to build. Anyone knows of a amp using this this schematic. https://www.pearl-hifi.com/06_Lit_Archive/02_PEARL_Arch/Vol_01/Sec_02/145_120W_HiFi_UL_Pwr.pdf Please advised: Is it a good schematic;any good good or bad thing said about...

    Please !!! Help mullard prep

Thank you, really appreciate the response:here is a follow up. From power amp chassis ground, B+, heater wires. For signal ground, do just connect a busbar to a single spot on the preamp chassis.

    Please !!! Help mullard prep

I build the mullard 5-20 and now I am building the 2 valve preamp. The power amp schematic shows where to connect the B+. Should I have three wire connections going to the preamp from the power amp. the B+,signal ground and earth ground. Or should I have only two the B+ and earth ground. And...
