    Interconnects Between Amp and Pre-amp

    What's British in your system?

 Epos ST-12 stands. I put the wide end in front, where the speaker is heavier; but reverse that in smaller rooms due to the effects of heavy sand-filled steel on my poor toes. Doh! Here's somebody's Harbeths atop these (not mine): (see next post)

Okay. First Google's 'Image Search' found Linn stands; very close, but had same-length base struts. I put the wide end in front, where the speaker is heavier, but reverse that in smaller rooms due to the toe-destroying properties of heavy steel. Doh! :gigglemad Then an exact 51mm...

Does anyone use an isolation transformer?

Thing hummed too much. Probably needed more shielding too.

Loupgarou I have a set of those stands too--but don't have a clue who made them. Well built, heavy, sand filled. Coincidence? .

Why the hell do people bother with "full-range" speakers??

This thread is pretty random. Have some random comments... Drivers? The 3" Be dome in the NS-1000 is crossed up pretty high. BG RD-75s have an immense coherent range too, but need lots of room to breathe. Very divergent tech. +1 :D Headphones: No doppler effects sitting on your head...

Yamaha CR-2020 Faulty, No sound, SB Mods.

My 2020 survived the "Great Receiver Purge of 2011-12". Very dynamic; killer tuner, elegant. Runs warm though. Did not survive: Lux R-117, SX-1250, 11.0, CR-1020, ... .

    Nakamichi RX-202

Pass. There are more around, wait for a 202, 303 or 505 that's working. The flip-o-tape mechanism is complicated and so's the transport. 202, Dragon here.

Amps for high or low efficiency? Sure my Khorn-clones did fine on larger Onks, Concepts, Parasounds. At 104db/1watt they probably never saw 20 wpc. 20 wpc won't get JMods out of the driveway. With so many drivers, multi-amping is the ticket...think I need a 30A dedicated line. :scratch2...

First, glad that JM decided to stop in here on AudioKarma. Cool! Have read his contributions on other forums with great interest. Yes my Mod-Js and Mod-Es deserve my number one best amp--a Nelson Pass Threshold optical bias S/200. It drives the FMI-80 / RtR-6 while pro Yamaha & Peavey 'arc...

    Dahlquist DQ-30's in the House!

Tighten all the upper baffle support screws. On my 20s the support braces were loose. Remove or press on the metal mesh back to test that. Lots of DQ DIYs added strips of damping material to mesh faces because it can rattle--especially if some screws are missing. .

Look at my new Sony SS-M7's.

Water vapor goes out the tailpipe, pretty innocuous... I would drive one if I could afford it. But right now I'm stuck with hydrocarbon combustion instead with all those noxious emissions. :nono: Electric cars are still half-way tech. What's generating the electricity? Coal? Uranium...

Upcoming Shootout - Magnapan MG 2.5R and DQ-20s

Don't sweat the dust--it cuts down unwanted reflectivity. :D I'd check the xover components and driver mount screws. Any trauma severe enough to split your side support and detach that cylinder might have damaged more things... Don't think the woofers are prone to magnet drop-shift (like...

Upcoming Shootout - Magnapan MG 2.5R and DQ-20s

Because the DQ-20's midrange bass-reflex cylinder is detached from the limited baffle, I predict the Maggies will win. Attach that, and then I predict the result will tell more about your listening preferences than these speakers' capabilities... .
