Ok Filter capacitors arrived today ! I decided to go for 18 000 uf instead of 15 000 uf… As you can see one of the old ones was right on the money at 15 000 uf but the other one had lost almost 50% at 8000 uf!!!

Just found my holly grail !!! Pioneer SA-9100!!! Sounds outstanding !!!! I’m in love !!! I know I should probably recap it but it sounds sooooo nice !!! I’m scared I will lose that awesome sound …. What should I do ??

Once disconnected I get 26 VAC from the red that was connected to C23 and 126VAC from the red that was connected to SR1 SR2

Full recap is done. Unit wasn’t working prior to recap. When on, T3 ends up buzzing and can’t get any right voltages according to schematics. So I suspect T3 is bad ?? Any ideas ?

So, if I read 150 VAC and 49 VAC T3 is busted ??

Hey guys, so I changed all four diodes D051 through D054 and it stopped blowing fuses F051 and F052. But still got nothing else happening... Protection relay doesn't energize when powered on... I need help for what is to look for next ... THANKS GUYS !!!

Ok doubled checked everything. Should get 430 v from pins 3 to 4 through choke between tubes 6L6GC paired. Got nothing on both channels. Tubes are light up and hum is present on both sides... Where should I go from there ... T3 is fine since I get good voltages across C23-C24 and C25 C26...

Yes of course they were replaced with the Jim McShane kit... No longer multi sections.. Will recheck everything but since the problem was there before recap, I doubt it is the source of the hum...

Thanks guys ... Corrected the situation. No improvement. Will start checking all voltages this weekend. I should mention that the amp was humming like crazy before recap ! That was the main reason for the recap in the first place... Humm still present after recap but compared to the before...
