I have emailed on and off with Bob Speece over the years, bought some parts from him etc. I last emailed him on August 28, 2023. He did reply on Friday, November 3, 2023, stating that he had been busy dealing with wife's illness. I have no information on his health or work status. He has replied...
Very sorry to hear that. If you still want info on your 2500 tube just swap it into your 2110 and see how it looks. If it is still dim, there's your answer. Smoke-bang obviously not good! But your 2500 is very much worth salvaging. Disconnect rectifiers and all transformer connectors and using a...
Well I once bought a 2110 just to get a better tube. To confirm your 2500 tube is just worn out, swap the 2110 tube into the 2500 and see how it looks. It will likely be much brighter :)
No problem! I've saved the SM's over the years and converted them to searchable for just these problems. I searched through other possibilities and did not find any exact matches, so it looks like replacements are limited to 2252/2265/2285/2330. None are on eBay right now (except for a 2252...
Just FYI there's a meter on eBay said to be from a 2252 but it is not, just says Tune instead of FM TUNING and the center/end meter markings are different. Not sure what that meter might be from, but it is not a match for 2252/2265/2285/2330.
I worked on a 2285b several years ago and used Nichicon capacitors LGU1J682MELC which are still available at Mouser ($7.18 each, 4 needed). These are 6800uF @ 63 volts and are 40mm tall 35mm diameter. This requires you empty out the filter cap cans, install two caps stacked inside wired up per...
I use Nichicon LGY1J103MELC50 which are the same diameter as the stock filter capacitors (35mm) and height (50mm). They are 10000uF @ 63 volts. In stock at DigiKey and Mouser. Many other 35mm capacitors will work, I just like these :)
Well if you decide to restuff the cans I have used 16 of the ESMQ161VSN182MQ4 which are 1800uF@160V measuring 45mm length by 25mm diameter, 8 of these fit snugly into the empty filter cap can. They are also getting very hard to find but are still available at onlinecomponents.com (minimum order...
MC7270 just acquired, has had a hard life, slowly being disassembled, here are a couple of meter photos after repairing the lamp housings glue & tape, new lamps, cleaned blue filters etc. What fun :)
After complete prep of the surface metal I used Rust-Oleum Self Etching Primer #249322 then final coats of Krylon Industrial Semi-Flat Black # K01613A07
