Can anyone recommend a replacement stylus for my M44E cartridge? Right now I am using a PFANSTIEHL 4659(ebay $15,.3 MIL X.7 MIL ELLIPTICAL) 2 GRAMS TRACKING FORCE). Is there anything noticeably better at less than $50?

Got it all sorted out. Got some 500K silicone fluid(50 lifetimes worth), cleaned the parts with alcohol and got as much 'clear peanut butter' as I could into the shaft gaps, etc. Drops great now-3-5 seconds. Thanks for all the help.

Well figured it out. The CD input on my home theater receiver is shot. Nothing works on that input. I suspect the Pyle Phono Preamp I had tried earlier in the week fried it. I connected the 2220B tape out to the Tape input on the HT receiver and it worked fine. Also tried a DJ PreII preamp and...

I tried that and got nothing. Tried 'Tape Mon' in and out and it made no difference as well.

Thanks. I have messed with it and from what I can see there isn't any actual 'reservoir' or place that holds the fluid like a shock. If you look at the picture http://i.imgur.com/lXN1WDc.jpg the shaft appears to be a solid piece.

I have a Pioneer PL-12D-II. When cueing the tonearm it drops way too fast. I assume my cue lever needs to be dampening fluid added? Does anyone know how to do this on these turntables?

The springs do have the foam. Not sure if it can be replaced and with what. But the deck seems very bouncy.

Klipsch S4i or R6i. I have tried many others and these are my favorite. I use them at the gym everyday and they sound fantastic. I use the yellow Shure foam tips and they don't budge. The Shure tips last much longer than Comply and are cheaper.

How to the highs compare on the M50's and 7506? Are they similar?

All headshell wires are intact-verified. I suspect my stylus is bad. It sits almost flush with the stylus body and at times the body rubs on the LP. Replacement stylus coming. Will report back.

Thanks. Have yet to rewire the tonearm but I will try that next. The distortion was the same with the green wire unconnected as with it soldered. Continuity testing next. Any ideas for wire source? No second tt to trouble shoot.

So got new stylus-generic and soldered green wire back together. Threw a record on and the sound is very distorted. Like a blown speaker. Readjusted cartridge multiple times, overhang, tracking force, etc. No change. Any ideas?

Thanks. The wire is broken about 1" as it exits the tone arm assembly under the base. I can solder it, but there is very little room to work with. Still waiting for a new stylus and hardware kit to show up. Once that comes in-early next week-I will be able to attempt a test. I have no...
