    Pioneer SX-1250 UFO’s

Restoring a 1250 when I came across components I’ve never used or seen before. I’ve been in hundreds of receivers but never seen these. Previous “tech” installed these all over the unit on almost every board. Pic attached.

Hi guys rebuilding an Onkyo TX-4500 not an MKII, The service manual is weird, parts list states one thing and the schematic states another. Please look if you have experience with this receiver. I'm not sure what to do here. Boards were stripped when I got this in thanks to some hack. let me...

    SX-950

I do not normally ask for help but I'm perplexed. I have a customer SX-950, I've done dozens of them with no issues, but this one is driving me crazy. I've restored the entire receiver, new caps, transistors, diodes, filters, etc. on all boards. When I got the unit I noticed someone drove...

    SX-950 Never seen this before

Restoring an SX-950 and came across this. Apparently they lost the original Pioneer lamp housings and improvised with this neat fix. Worked on many 850-950’s and never saw this method before. Not bad if the bulbs are the correct voltage.

    Marantz 2270 Idle current

hi, I’ve followed LeeStereos thread on a 2270 rebuild. Everything looks good except I cannot lower the idle current below 15mv on both channels. I replaced the original transistor 2SC496 with a Ksc 3503 as suggested in a few posts. Should I install the originals to see what the idle current...

    1010 in the house.

I’ve done more than 10 but when I get one I get excited. Looks like light use. Have a few new power supply boards complete, I think I’m gonna use the stock one it doesn’t look that bad. When I flip it over and lose traces I might rethink. Zeb you with me? I’m good but we’ll see buddy.

Hi guys, I just picked this up for the hell of it, I love obscure Pioneer units. Anyway before I tear into it(never ever seen one of these before) there are a few issues, the turntable motor seems to run slow, it wont turn the platter when attached, when I pull the platter and remove the belt...

    2265B FM Only Hum

Hi, I am by no means a Marantz specialist I usually restore Pioneer receivers but I have a very nice 2265B that gives a pretty heavy hum only when FM is selected, all other functions sound loud and very clear. Also when in FM with volume at zero I cannot hear any humming, you hear it during...

Forrest Gump said "Ya never know what yer gonna get"

I have attached a few pictures of my latest acquisition, a Pioneer SX-1080, it came here in a single walled box held together with packing tape. Inside the box a few Priority Mail boxes folded up and two layers of very small bubble wrap. I cannot believe it arrived from Florida somewhat safe...

    2240 Broken Ground Wire

I just restored a 2240, after I thought everything was good I see a stray ground wire broken off what it looks like the mode selector switch. I think it's relevant to the AUX mode as when I flip the unit from upside down to upright the left channel goes out. Flip it back upside down and it...

    SX-727 Dead tuner

Hi, just restored a 727 and everything worked very nice but I had a flickering FM stereo lamp while in FM mode, I researched this and found a post that suggested changing Q19 and C61 on the tuner board. I replaced Q19 with a suggested KSC2383 and the C61 with a .47 film cap, now when I power up...

    Realistic STA-2300 Idle Current Adjustment

Now I'm on a 100W DBT, flip switch, dim bulb, no relay. Also changed out both emitter resistors. Measured the Darlington's... Left and Right...
