    Marantz 2230.....Miracle!!...102nd unit ever made

Yes- this one (the #1037" )will take a lot of work to restore. Regarding your #51899: It could be that this unit was sold in Europe back in the day and particulary sold at one of those special Military hifi outlets on the military installations (US and UK) in Germany in the early seventies...

    Marantz 2230.....Miracle!!...102nd unit ever made

yes - the bottom line seems to be that the 2230 with the serial # 51899 is made for export to Europe, as is allready concluded. Everything seems to ift in the scheme for such. Which country are you located in? - and in what country did you find the receiver? One thing bothers me...and that is...

Remove rust / paint top grill 1200B

I had a cosmetic problem like that (or at least my 250M had) - I had an industrial painter of very high quality - a really good one to mask the labels nicely and spraysanded (sp?) the metal. After that he used a special technique he called flake-spray-painting - he sprayed the vent with that and...

    Marantz manufacture dates

you can't determine the production date from the serial number on any vintage Marantz product. I know close to nothing about Marantz products after 1980 so i can't comment on those.... On Vintage Marantz units there's usually a stamp ( as mentioned) on the upper chassis edge (right) or...

    marantz 4400 button replacements

As far as I'm aware of - the only way to get them is to find a totally dead parts unit/wreck from a Marantz 4400 or a 1150 - 1150D - 3600 or 3800 and use the buttons from there if they have any left. They share the squared push-buttons with the 4400. I guess it was the squared pushbuttons, that...

    Marantz 1070 Amp post-recap problem

I had the same problem with my 1070. I had a problem with the pre out / main in's) as mentioned earlier (lost a channel ever so often) - but what worked to get rid of the "wooshh" and distant thundersound at turn on - was a thorough cleaning of the pushbutton switches as per...

    Marantz 1060 issue

I've had more or less the exact same issues with a couple of 1060's recently. The cure was two diffent solutions: 1: recap the pre/tone-board P400 (electrolytics only) - please note the there are two bipolar electrolytics on that board (C403 + C404) 2: do a very thorugh cleaning of the...

    Wood case ID needed

The matching case for the Marantz 3300 pre is the WC-2. What you have is a WC-1U, which match the 10B - 20/B - 1200/B - 150 - 125 - 510/M and some more. Both are very very nice woodcases - and the WC-1U in your picture is quite beautiful.... Somehow a WC-1U also will fit a 3300 allthough it...

yes- those resistors certainly do not look healthy. There must be a reason why they are toast. It's good to have the transformers checked. When you replace the resistors, they were originally AB-resistors Carboncomposite (Allen Bradley) if you're in Florida, you probably know these guys...

The care for these units must be of the very best. The best persons I can come up with ' just like that' is a member here: "Crooner". - or "punkerX?" - Richard Moddaferi" They should know those units and has a certain expertice in restoring those rarities as far as I recall.. The 10B-tuner is...

    Marantz 8b, 10b and 7c preamp find...

the first 8/8b with a serial number should be the #1001 - the last 8/8B is around #10800 maybe up to # nearly 11000, but i rather think the first guess is true. ( around #10800) - the 8 AND the 8B is following the same scheme - they do not have a parallel scheme - but it is consequtive. Meaning...
