Let’s see those table lamps - vintage or modern

1950's table lamp set atop for this photo on our Heywood Wakefield Dining/Gaming Table & Chairs Set. Lamp was purchased in the 50's and table set circa 1965 by my parents. The cart in the background was also theirs's. Now that our MCM ranch remodel is nearly complete I have more MCM furniture...

    New Toroid Output Transformer Marketed?

I think they market alot more transformers than they used to. When I checked the so-called higher priced "specialist" series the specs were identical to old plitron sheets I found on the web.

    New Toroid Output Transformer Marketed?

I don't have any idea, Jack. But, in the past I have found Menno himself to be very responsive to email questions.

    New Toroid Output Transformer Marketed?

Plitron manufactured, as I recall, the Menno Vanderveen series of transformers. These can now be purchased from here (at a much lower price I might add). They are now manufactured by Trafco in Serbia. I am a happy customer of their Unity Coupled output transformer...

    Ditched Amazon Music

Plus the added benefit of streaming in your car with the same advantages as above. I was telling someone the other day when I got my first car with CD player, circa 1985... ...I imagined a day where there would be enough memory inside the dash to store all the songs that were ever created and...

    McIntosh 50W-2 Amplifier

Gotta give em credit for using two 5U4's. Since a Mc240 will do 50 wpc (spec'd at 40), I wonder what these will really do as they are spec'd at 50 watts.

    McIntosh MC275 MK VI Clone

It doesn’t surprise me it sounds better. You have increased the idle current thru the output tubes — within limits that can decrease distortion. In a unity coupled amp the output tubes run very low idle current by design.

    McIntosh MC275 MK VI Clone

I have two factory assembled amps here and two loose main boards. They are all green boards like this one. All say Rubycon like they should, of course that doesn't mean they still aren't counterfeit. Regarding bias, yes, change R51 and R52 for trimmers. I am going to do that on one of the...

Orsefon C22 (McIntosh C-22 circuit copy)

Darned! All my experiences with aliexpress have exceeded expectations. Perhaps you could negotiate a price? I have before, and in that instance, they create a listing just for you with all the aliexpress "protections".

Seeking documentation for an MC 275 MkIII

I have serial E10390 of this. Mine is on a stainless steel chassis. The first ones were on chrome plated steel. I'm guessing mine made circa 2000. Mine has one of the same McIntosh branded filter caps, the other has been replaced. Mine also has the same kind of under chassis writings. The...

Orsefon C22 (McIntosh C-22 circuit copy)

Sorry for the confusing post of mine above. To clarify: I did not get a C22 as I only stream therefore have no use for it. Also the C22 price didn't go up $200, it doubled overnight. What I did get was a MC275 for $1187 (no tubes - - but price includes shipping) that was advertised as the...

Good thing you moved fast. The C22 just went up $200. On a related note, I got the "last one" wired for 230V no tubes (free shipping). Easy enough to move some jumpers underneath to convert to 115V. They sent 115V version anyway.

Have you ever brought a Chinese power amplifier?

Yes. But be sure and take your blood pressure medicine before reading my quote below or the thread: "In my opinion, the Clone MC275 is one of the best buys in tube amps today", T. Lang, circa 2023...

    C20 Transformer Tar Leakage

I did a variation of the "clunk" method above a few years ago on a MC30 power transformer and a propane torch outdoors. I strung up the transformer wires and heated the case. Since the case was light weight it took a few light hammer blows to free it. As I recall much of the tar stayed stuck...

Thank you all! I'm 67. Older than many, younger than some. As some of you may be aware, I have been remodeling our mid century ranch here in Asheville. I won't bore everyone with pictures of completed bathroom and bedroom remodels. Recently, I took the wall down in the middle of the house...

MC275CE PCB layout to recreate a main board

There are several connectors as shown below, most connected to individual tube sockets and there are others. 1. You could skip the connectors completely and simply solder the pcb pads to the tubes directly using new or possibly existing wires. 2. You could pick some new mating connectors that...
