If floor-standers are your thing, that opens the doors a bit. I am currently using a pair of Infinity Quantum 2's. These are pretty darn flat from above 20khz all the way down to 25hz (aside from a couple of anomalies caused by the room....and I am talkin in-room measurements, not spec sheets)...

Well poop. I'm just not sure 75 watts will cut it. My seat is roughly 12' from the speakers, and I tend to listen at around 85-90db (c-weighted) with peaks much higher...plus these hogs aren't exactly sensitive beasts ;) *sigh* Guess I will be saving up for big tubes after all.

Ken, I am happy to see your thread, as I will eventually be on the same track with my infinities. If you are going with solid state on the bottom, could I recommend Tube Audio Design (click the "on sale" tab)? I can already attest that they sound very nice with infinities, and handle my Quantum...

I would think that one of the smaller infinities would serve you well. Their emit tweeters are very extended and detailed, and I hear that the bottom end is still decent, even on the smaller offerings (I only have first-hand experience with their larger floor-standers, but I have not heard...

If at all possible, have your speakers mirror imaged, with regards to their position. In other words, if one is 2' from the side wall, the other should be also. The distance from the sidewall affects midbass response, and imaging. Distance to the front wall (the wall behind the speakers) affects...
