    WARNING!! Allmusic.com

Twice now in the last two days I received virus warnings via AVG after visiting Allmusic.com. Trojans they were. I'm running the latest IE 10. I ran a complete sweep with Malwarebytes and things appear to be cool.

    Bricktop delivers the goods...

I bought a tube amp from Micah and it arrived unscathed from being packed so well. Hooked it up and it played flawlessly. Build quality and craftsmanship was awesome. The pics didn't do it justice. Completely satisfied. If you're ever needing or wanting a tube amp don't look further than our own...

    Music Hall Cruise Control 2.0

I have a Music Hall MMF-5.1SE turntable and decided to add this mainly because I was tired of lifting the platter to change speeds. What a revelation. :D I am very happy with this purchase. $299 plus shipping from most sites. I purchased mine from Acoustic Sounds. Does it make things sound...

Beach Boys SMiLE Sessions Box Set

Anyone going to buy this? Looks very impressive. Lots of goodies included. Price may be prohibitive for some though as it's $140 at Amazon. I already have Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE that was released in 2004 but I am contemplating get this box set.

    Nigerian letter scam...

I get these from time to time but this one really cracked me up. Aside from the terrible use of English the last line is quite funny.

    Zebra Cables

Just thought I'd put a plug in for one of AK's sponsors. I ordered a ZC-PWR14 power cable from Zebra Cables Monday, January 26th and it was in my mailbox yesterday, February 2nd. And remember, Scott makes these on a "per order" basis. I was thrilled to see my order come so fast. This is the 3rd...

    How hot will tubes get?

Specifically, the 6DJ8s found in the Bottlehead Seduction phono stage. Will they get hotter than 200 degrees F? Reason why I ask is because the kit includes a couple of cylindrical metal enclosures that surround each tube and I want to either paint them or plate them. Thanks.

I'm going where this man has never gone before...

Tubes! I just ordered a Bottlehead Seduction kit with the C4S upgrade. I think it'll take them 4-5 weeks to ship. I hope sooner since I'm pretty excited. Cheers

    Music Hall MMF-5.1SE

I just received this today direct from Music Hall via Seth from Soundstage Direct. This represents a significant improvement over my circa 1979 Technics SL-230 for which I am the orginal owner. Setup was a breeze although they failed to correct the instruction manual - they still have you...

I just wanted to publicly thank Darren for a wonderful transaction. I purchased a G-4500 from his garage clearance sale and it arrived very nicely packed and in good time. And he's such a friendly guy. I love doing business with folks like him. Thanks again Darren. Cheers

Replacing caps in Chorus I speakers

I recently bought a pair of Chorus I's and would like to change out the caps using Kimber Kaps. The problem I am encountering is Kimber doesn't offer a 2uf cap any longer. They have a 1.8uf and a 2.2 uf. Could either one of those be used and if so, which one? I did notice that Solen has a 2uf...

    Time for Tyner

No, not the Blue Note album from 1968. :) I'm leaving soon to pick up David (dmax99) at his homestead and then we're off to see the McCoy Tyner Trio this evening. The performance is at Detroit's Max M. Fisher Music Center's Orchestra Hall and begins at 8:00 pm. The Max Fisher Music Center is...

Reel to Reel gear and tapes from my Father-In-Law.

Wow! Having never owned one of these machines all I can say it's been alot fun playing back these tapes. Really good dynamics still after all these years. And the machines themselves are in excellent condition save for one and I'll get to that later. I believe my father-in-law has had these in...

I know, I know. Not a damn thing....yet. But I do have my recipient and I got busy doing my "homework" perusing past threads. I have a pretty good idea what direction to take and got it nailed down to a few choices. A lump of coal wasn't one of them. ;) When they start rolling in fellas...

I got phished by eBay scammers....

......and I don't know how. My eBay account was compromised over the weekend. I honestly don't know how they got my password as I'm keenly aware of the phishing techniques these scumbags use. And it's not like I'm a regular eBay user either. I NEVER sell, just buy and have less than a dozen...

G-7700 lives to fight another battle....

When you power these up, you're suppose to hear a "click" and then everything is okay, right. Not in my case. You see, on the front of this receiver is a little green led labeled "safely operate". It wasn't lighting up. No click inside. Gee, what could it be. To make a long story short, I...
