The "What If?" Moments In Rock History

What if, guitarists and frontmen weren't esteemed over keyboardists and drummers in most rock bands?

    The Mid-Century/Danish thread

I have this Drexel coffee table that I get a lot of use out of and I was wondering what might be the best way to refinish it. It's just like this one: http://www.etsy.com/listing/104473609/reserved-maudiel-mcm-john-van-koert-for

Just purchased the finest example of German automotive engineering

Jeeps, unfortunately, aren't all they're cracked up to be. The Grand Cherokee has a lot needless complication that can be a real headache. I liked Jeeps before I became a mechanic.

Just purchased the finest example of German automotive engineering

If you have the patience/skill/resources to do your own work, then that will likely save you a lot of the problems, as with owning any Euro or unusual car. With most Euros, you've got build a relationship with other more knowledgeable enthusiasts. Many of the quirks associated with cars like...

    Very important question about "Seinfeld"

What the Dean says in this episode is probably the best description of Kramer's achievements I have seen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icDXNHF-oEw

Do You Have Any Components Left From Your First Stereo?

In middle school, I convinced my grandparents to 'gift' me their old hi-fi. This was my system from middle school through high school: Yamaha C-70 preamp Yamaha M-1 power amp Yamaha T-2 tuner some sort of Marantz speakers A few years ago when I decided to get a record player again, I sold off...

    Wood Glue as Vinyl Cleaner

It's probably worth a shot. Also, maybe you should give it a listen with a cheapish cartridge. I've have/had several LPs that have visible imperfections and it made no discernible difference when playing.

Tannoy T-125 - Where to get rubber surrounds

Okay, thanks. I will buy those flat attach surrounds and be done with it. I'll let you know how it went. Yes. I talked to two or three Tannoy reps, OC speaker, several others, and perused every site I could find that offers 'foams' of any material. The challenge hasn't been finding them in...

I can't find any of these on LP, but have wanted them for years (on LP): Rick van der Linden - GX1 Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion The Yamaha factory demo for the GX-1 synthesizer (I'm also interested in any other Yamaha factory demo or other brand synthesizer demo LPs)

Tannoy T-125 - Where to get rubber surrounds

I know this thread should be ancient history, but I still haven't resolved this issue... So, I'm still looking for angle attach surrounds of any material that measure close to the dimensions: 165/190/220/250 They don't have to be rubber, just have to fit. Anyone have any ideas?

Has your audio hobby significantly reduced your TV viewing time?

I don't really watch TV much. When I move in about a month, I will be getting rid of the two TVs I have have so I don't have to carry them. i watch TV probably about once every two weeks when I feel like catching up on shows I actually enjoy. When I do, it's all On Demand kind of stuff. I enjoy...

    Led Zeppelin's CODA

People often mention that LZ wasn't as good after 'X' album and such. I don't buy that at all. Led Zeppelin was good from the first to the last. I often hear that In Through the Out Door is their least impressive album, well it happens to be one of my favorites. So does Physical Graffiti, so...

    Tell me about RSIIIa

Anyone know the values of the caps in these? the RSIIIa's have been treating me real nice, so I'm ready to return the favor by recapping them. The only thing is, since they're currently my only speakers. I want to keep them going until the parts get here. Does anyone have a list of what caps to...

How can YOU have an opinion on audio -- when you're just plain tone DEAF ??

I got 100% on that test. It doesn't surprise me much though, because I play the organ, piano and synthesizer. I have a strong ear for notepitch and even stronger ear for timbre. Every piano I've ever heard sounds distinctly different (to me) from the last. I'm always noticing the...

    The Mid-Century/Danish thread

Wow. Loving the furniture finds! The guy who found the Eames chair and Platner table must have been a saint in a former life. I love the Lane Acclaim tables too! I don't know how you guys do it. Around here, anything in thrift stores even resembling serviceable furniture is priced similar to or...

The best album you EVER heard

I understand where you're coming from. I'm very fond of that era as well. Your post reminded me of a perennial favorite album of mine. I never get tired of: Ike Cole's Tribute to his Brother Nat.

Anyone ever considered simplifying to just digital?

I think it depends what you like listening to, how you listen to it, and how much time/money you are willing to spend obtaining digital copies of your music. I'm always discovering new (old) stuff, and generally find that for my tastes, I really have a preference for older obscure music, most of...
