    CD or SACD?

I search on amazon.com for SACD's listed by price, & sometimes find some ASTOUNDING deals on them. I picked up a 5.1 surround SACD of forest sounds (VERY relaxing) for $.99.

    Sunfire Symphonic Reference????

I see you never found an answer; hope this isn't too little too late. The Symphonic Reference series were a low-budget option by Sunfire. Really good sounding amp/preamp, but NO parts are available for these now so any issues that can't be reverse engineered means it's a boat anchor.

Carver ALS want to build new crossovers

Those definitely are NOT the original woofers. DynaVox makes the only true replacement woofers for these. If you have the later woofers, the DO NOT match your crossover! Those look like the DynaVox replacements for the Platinum version of the Amazings. If you go with active crossovers, it...

Wife brought these home for me today....she paid $10

Before you waste time doing anything with the spider, check the impedance on the woofers. Sometimes a VC that has been overheated will distort in shape & cause the VC to rub the magnet....

    Tobacco Smoke Odor.. Suggestions

DO NOT use Brake Kleen! It will eat up parts! CRC or deOxit is a great idea. Great to use on old, tarnished switches & pots, too.

    Carver Speakers

http://www.bobcarver.com/ They will list at about $20-22K. He's competing with systems in the $100k range.

    Carver Speakers

You can't refoam properly. Anyone who says they can will screw up the frequency responce/Q of the woofers. Orevox now charges about $80 per woofer for replacements....factor that into what you're willing to pay. Not a terrible price, but I'd certainly check them out thoroughly first.

Bob Carver & Bob Farinelli audition the new Carver LLC lineup at AXPONA

A quote from a guy I know attending AXPONA: "I'd just like to add that these speakers are easily the best of the show. With the side firing drivers that are basically floor to ceiling the soundstage is huge, and more importantly the SWEET spot is equally huge. In fact there was not a bad seat...

    Deoxit products

Parts Express is a little cheaper, but overall more expensive unless you can get free shipping. Sweetwater has THE BEST customer service/support (lifetime guarantee on ALL sales) I've ever experienced in my LIFE. I can't recommend them highly enough. I ordered 2 cans of DeOxit 2 years ago...

    Sunfire TrueSubwoofer problems

The problem with small, compact subs is they MUST develop tremendous power to overcome the lack of cabinet volume. You don't get something for nothing. A tiny cabinet must overcome a lot of issues to present huge bass. It's basic physics. Bob overcame that problem & there have been a HUGE...

    *~Gone Active~*

These are almost full-range ribbons drivers (crossed over @ 190 hz) that are capable of running down to 100 hz (but it's hard on them to do so at higher volumes). I run slo-blo fuses, but no protection caps. It is my understanding that a cap is only used if you're running lower frequencies to...

No, it's Source > Preamp > XO > EQ > Amp > Speakers Right now, I'm using the EQ for the top end only as it approaches clipping at the upper limit with the full range through it.

Bob Carver reply to questions/comments on his new Amazing Line Source speakers~

These are very similar to the design of the Sunfire Cinema Ribbon s CRM-2 speakers, which sound WONDERFUL, especially for their size: So I'm sure the same (or similar) rules apply to the phase/polar mapping of the ALS, as they share quite similar side mounted woofers.

Bob Carver reply to questions/comments on his new Amazing Line Source speakers~

I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. I never called anyone a heretic, just knew that Bob had designed the ribbon & I honestly didn't know it was the same one that PE sells now~ :D Bob states the ribbons will easily accept 200 watts. Here are some original posts: My post: "Also, the...
