    Sansui 2000A Freshen Up

There are nice led replacement lamps on Ebay. The lamps are held in place with a white paint. Use a heat gun to soften the white paint. Then a cotton towel to grab the bulb and it will twist off easily.

    Nakamichi Stasis receiver upgrades?

In my TA2A I used a brown dog so8 to sip8 adapter with an opa1612 to replace the sip8 OP amp. High temp low ear electroltytic power supply caps. Poly coupling caps.

    NAD 3080 Restore Notes

The W02 bridge rectifier converts AC from the transformer to DC for the preamp power circuit. The high speed and soft recovery diodes produce less noise. I noticed an improvement in clarity and liveliness. The background seems quieter...

    NAD 3080 Restore Notes

C407/408 is indeed 1000uf. I've found them that way. BTW, there is an error in the manual for C813, C814. It lists 100uf 25v. Should be 1000v 25v as shown in the schematic and found on the board. A worthwhile upgrade is replacing the W02 bridge rectifier with a set of ultrafast diodes strung...

Heat them up with a heat gun, use a towel to grab the bulb and it will twist off easily. No need to remove the paint.

    Sansui AU555A Phono Issue

The high resistance resistors can get noisy. 390K at R605, R606 330K at R619, R620 Could be one of those. Swap them out with a good metal film. I had a bad 390K in a Sansui 2000x tone board that was causing noise.

    Sansui 2000A Lamp question

I tried picking the paint off w/ a xacto knife. It didnt work too well. Heat gun works great, hit it for a few seconds all around and it will twist off relatively easily. Wear gloves!

    2000X EQ Board Transistors

I've used 2N5088 and SS9014D to sub for higher gain 2SC871. BC550C looks good for it too. The pin outs will be different, so adjust accordingly! If you search "transistor tester" on ebay you'll find some affordable gadgets that will get you transistor data. Good for checking capacitors as well.

NAD 3080; new owner & new to AK

I had the same sibilance / harshness with my NAD 3080. Replacing the rectifier diodes with new UF5404 diodes solved that problem. UF5402 - UF5404 will work.
