I tried down sizing by selling my Klipsch KLF 30s main speakers and getting a pair of Dynaudio Emit 50s. Sound improved and gained a little room but not much.

Same here, my family doesn't understand why I have all of this equipment for music when I could just use my phone and why buy music when you could rent it.

Yes I agree, my fifty pound McIntosh amp is not what you would call portable but I like big speakers, amps,etc.

Nobody like to own anything to do with music like records, cds, just rent it. What happens when you can't stream anything. It's all about convenience. I like the routine of cleaning, playing, flipping the record over etc, gets my a$$ of the couch and moving around.

I'm at the age ( 72 ) and wonder what will happen to my gear when I'm gone, kid's aren't interested, grandkids are too young to care, wife doesn't want it. So do I try to sell it now or let somebody else worry about it........

I have a Pioneer PLX 1000 that is very similar to yours. I use a Nagaoka cartridge and find it a great sounding cartridge in relationship to cost. Started out with a mp 110 and ended up with a mp 300. Couldn't be happier with the sound.
