    Garage Treasures!

I already have a G-8000. Not a NIB one like his though. I may have to just forget that I saw those. The most I can pay for any of the three is $2000, and I'd have a very tough time paying 2 grand for the NOS G-8000! I could take that same $2000 and spend it a number of ways that may generate...

    Garage Treasures!

I can't compromise my integrity and professionalism here and disclose the clients name. I do too much work in this area to jeopardize my business. I will say that I spotted some photos of "Him" and some very powerful gentlemen! My guess is that politics is his business. When I leave that area...

    Garage Treasures!

One of the "house help" was chatty while I was working there, nice girl! So in between her complaining about the smell of the paint, I asked her for directions to the bathroom and she offered to escort me there. While walking through the house I spotted the listening room and I had to stop and...

    Garage Treasures!

IDK- thought of that. THAT's why I don't take pictures of other peoples stuff without their permission! It's a very small world!

    Garage Treasures!

Yes, that's exactly the situation! He moved out two million in cars to allow me access to the floor! Not one drop of oil to deal with either! That's a first! He's out of town. When he gets back I am going to give him an estimate on more work inside. I am going to try to work in the G-22000 as...

    Garage Treasures!

Pictures, YES! However I never take pics of a customer's property without first asking/ receiving their permission to do so. Most times clients like this NEVER allow that, so I didn't even ask!

    Garage Treasures!

I've never laid eyes on a brand new big G! I'd love to just unpack one of those monsters and behold it! He's offered no history as to how he's come about these units and I aint gonna pry either. He's a very serious dude! Rich beyond rich!

    Garage Treasures!

My guess is that he meant, what's your real offer because a grand is what one would pay for a used, mint condition, all original, G-9000. I REALLY want the G-22000!

To react as he did I'd say he definitely knows they are very collectable/ valuable.

    Garage Treasures!

Got to share a recent experience with you all! I was hired this weekend to epoxy/ coating a garage floor at a very wealthy gentleman's estate here in a very affluent area of the north shore of Long Island, NY. The job was to paint the floor of a four car garage. So I decided to move half of the...

    Adcom GFA-5500 wellness check help

I went ahead with the replacement of the eight lytics on top. Snap- ins 1000uF 100 V. I used Nichicon GY Series and the results were surprising. The bass is tighter and overall the unit sounds wonderful. Photo is of the old caps.

    Adcom GFP-555ll Broken PCB Pad

Well, it's a few days later and glad to say that all is very well with it. Thanks to Avionic. :thmbsp: I used Nichicon KZ MUSE caps throughout on this preamp and those caps I replaced must have been very tired. The PCB date was stamped as 1989, so that's what.... 23 years old? Listening...

    Adcom GFP-555ll Broken PCB Pad

I've done it again! Wow these Adcom boards are fragile! In the picture below I have the negative side of a new cap with the pad broken/ removed during the removal of the former cap at that location. With very little effort it has been completely removed and the solder has nothing to stick to...

    Adcom GFA-5500 wellness check help

R51 and R52 are the large resistors directly below the smaller resistors R41 and R42. These are found on the R & L PCB driver boards, P1 and P2 are there as well. Happy to report that the GFA-5500 was damn good on its initial measurements. Bias was a few mV off- adjusted that to 50mV...

    Adcom GFA-5500 wellness check help

Back in 1997 I purchased this wonderful amp new and its been a great performer for all these years. Its never been checked or serviced and I would like to check the bias and DC offset but I am unsure how to proceed. I've worked on a few receivers while consulting the service manuals to check and...

    G-8000 home

To my mind, the G-8000 is the hottest receiver on the planet! I have mine playing as I write this and it's just incredible to behold! I did a veneer job on the case in walnut, and recapped it with Elna Silmic ll, every last one too! The exception was were those values were not available and at...

    Sx-1080 and speaker question

All the drivers working properly on the speakers? They should be loud with what you are driving them with now. However you could just need more power. Put in some big watts and see if that satisfies you. Only way to find out for sure. Get an SX-1250 and that ought to drive them! :D
