    List of DACs Under $450

Please feel free to redirect me if I'm in anyway hijacking this thread, but while on the topic of DAC's...I have a question. I'm looking at headphone amps vs. DAC's. In regards to HFA's Most seem to contain a DAC. You've got to climb the cost ladder in order to get any kind of digital input...

    List your Klipsch speakers

Not trying to hijack the thread from it's Original intent, so here 1. Chorus with Crites tweeter mods 2. KG 3.5's With all the K lovers here, I wonder if I might seek some advice. I have just received my EBC electronics overhauled Adcom GFA 565 monoblocks and GFP 565 preamp. I currently use...

    Lucked out..Yamaha CA-2010

Just picked up a beautiful CA 2010 on C-list in Atlanta for $225. Replacing my Marantz 2252B in the office with this sweetie. I am running a Sony CA70ES cd player through it right now. Folow the modest Monster Cable to my Klipsch Chorus speaker with you know who's tweeter and crossover...

Best TUBE integrated amp under $1,000

I'm gravitating towards either the Rogue Audio 55w Cronus integrated, or the Prima Luna Prologue Two integrated. I like the Rogue because you get a phono input and pre-amp along with a headphone jack and obviously amp. Additionally the Rogue has exposed power supply's. The PL is a little more...

Best TUBE integrated amp under $1,000

Talk me in from the ledge I want to take the plunge into a tube amp, but I have a general question first. Let's assume it's the most basic version of an integrated amp....i.e. it has a volume knob. The first thing I do when listening to anything with a receiver is to adjust the bass and...

Can I do this with my iPhone?

Thanks everyone. I learned a lot, and LMAO too. I like that converter. There's no info on it though so I wonder if it will let me use the ifee(e) jack to go to the USB on my car receiver? If I connect them now the iPhone just laughs at me for trying to interface an Apple product with an...

    Replacing Klipsch Midrange Diaphragms wi

OK thank you very much for clearing that up. That being said, I believe I will order the $70 replacement mid diaphrams, and not be concerned with any compatability issues with my current crossovers. Jeff

Can I do this with my iPhone?

I don't have an iPhone dock on my garage system. I have been using a 3.5 mm plug from the earphone jack converting to 2 RCA plugs and going into the AUX input on my receiver. It sounds OK, but don't I essentially have 2 pre-amps inline with this approach? You have to adjust both volumes to...

    Replacing Klipsch Midrange Diaphragms wi

Mr Crites, Not sure if this is the format to discuss something about K-57-k replacement diaphrams or not, but the ones offered for $70/pair do not say whether or not they are titanium? I have a pair of Chorus I's that the previous owner did some work on. They have Crites ti diaphrams for the...

Tube amp porn (from China I believe)

I'm quite sure the owners of these behemoth classics would like to thank Wal-Mart shoppers for supporting their habit.

    First Klipsch Score!

Bought a pair of Chorus I's with the Crites titanium tweeter diaphram upgrades, and the new caps for the crossovers. Haven't had much time to listen to them due to a busy week, but love them so far. My Marantz 2252B sounds fantastic with them, but I think I will be looking for suggestions on a...

Audio Nirvana 6V6 amp with Chorus I's

Anyone have any opinion/experience with the Audio Nirvana 6V6 ultralinear tube amp? I have the Crites crossover and tweeter (titanium) mod.

    Favorite garage pounder suggestions

I know what I like inside, but I'm looking for some good fullsized speakers for the garage. (college dorm speakers) My garage is finished, has astroturf carpeting and is converted to a gym. I'm thinking of trying to find some Realistic Mach One's, but remember JBL producing some very loud...

    Thrift store mystery speakers??????

Well bad news everyone...they sold yesterday. I just spoke to a lady who said she thinks they are gone because "a man kept testing them" Well apparently they passed the test. At any rate, thanks for the education on horns, and once again the lesson should be.......if it's under a hundred...

    Thrift store mystery speakers??????

Got to the store at 6:58 and they closed at 6:30. It closes at 6:00 tonight and trying to get off work early when everyone wants to go home to watch the Superbowl will be iffy. I might try and call them and give them my credit card number. I wish I had the knowledge everyone here provided me...

    Thrift store mystery speakers??????

I'm gonna stop on the way home from work today, if they are still there, it's a done deal. I'll just tell my wife "look, I wasn't too happy when you brought that dog home, and I promise these speakers won't sh*t all over our brand new carpet" If mids and highs are solid, I'll pull out the...

    Thrift store mystery speakers??????

Thanks.....is the driver threaded on? If so, approx how much hand torque should I apply on reassembly? Also, someone noted that paper woofer surrounds would indicate a PA type speaker....would it even be worth the trouble refoaming them, or would I be better off replacing them entirely...

    Thrift store mystery speakers??????

Thanks, after doing some checking....they do look like EV T35's. The mids have the same polished edges as the tweets. They are a single cast peice probably aluminum now that I think about it, so I'm geussing they might be EV's also? Consensus seems to be that they would be worth $78 for the...

    Thrift store mystery speakers??????

Woofer surrounds were paper, and showing signs of fatigue/cracking so they are aged for sure. I think the designer had the guy layed out (passed out) on the couch in mind hence the vertical mounting of the horns. I'm tempted to go back with a phillips screwdriver and do some investigative...

    Thrift store mystery speakers??????

Saw these in a thrift store. They stand about 5 feet tall, weigh around 75-100 lbs. Absolutely no identification anywhere. Large horn appears to be constructed on pot metal with a polished surround. they come with lamp cord and a flat plug at the bottom on the rear similiar to a Fisher...

    First Klipsch Score!

I just bought a pair of mint KG 3.5's in light oak finish for $75 off of Craiglist. My first set and I must say the horn tweeter is incredibly lifelike. Powering them with a Marantz 2252B. I liked them more than my Advents, so everything shifted once again. Only problem is the owner had some...

    The Marantz that got away

hifi hoarder...you can't be too far from Boston....put the word out here on AK that you need a good tech in BOS, and you'll get results. The fact that you've only got 20 in it means you've still got hundreds to spend getting it repaired/ overhauled. A refreshed 2325 is easily worth 320-420.

    Realistic Collectors?

Thanks for the comparison opinions. I've got some great speakers around the house, but I think I'd grab either the Mach 1's or the T-200's if I saw them.

    Realistic Collectors?

Aldo, or anyone who has experienced both.......How would you compare the Mach One with the T-200's? I've always heard that Mach Ones were great "party speakers"....if you were to seek out 1 and buy it, which one would you go for? Thanks
