Working on a restoration/re-cap of a Sansui Eight for a client. Since the main caps are such a large diameter, I wanted to re-stuff them with slightly larger and higher voltage caps (8200uF, 80V, 105C).
At my regular place of work we have a small machine shop which includes a lathe. I chucked...
MC2255 amp two main filter capacitor is originally rated 38,000uf and current measurement of these capacitors are 28,000uf and 29,000 uf which are below 20% tolerance. ESR value is 71 milliohms.
I was told that the capacitance value is not the only factor to replace these capacitors but also...
I'm replacing the main filter caps on a friends 9090DB. He bought it with a pretty nice recap job about 2 years ago, but it always had a pronounced hum. The original recap included good components, new relay, mostly fine gold and panasonic FCs. As well as diodes and fusistors. But they...
Hey AKers! Do any of you know how I could determine the main filter cap polarity on these? They are from Sansui AU5900. It’s confusing when they say black negative, while the black dot is on the other side. Or does the black dot indicate the negative?
Hello Everyone.
