Record player arm won’t lift but can move side to side.

I recently got my first record player( DC servo automatic turntable SLBD20B) for free, but the guy that gave it to me said it needs a new needle, and the arm won’t lift. When I place it on the record it sounds pretty bad but I think the needle might fix it. Once it reaches the end of the...

Kenwood KR 6050 record player ground question.

I've got an old KR 6050 and it talks about grounding your record player to get rid of ground hum in the manual but modern record players don't have a ground (at least mine doesn't). Can I just ground it to some metal or something? Would that get rid of the hum? Any suggestions of things that...

Sherwood ST-802 speeds up and down at will

Good morning my fellow Audioholics! I picked up a Sherwood ST-802 simply for the cartridge it was being used with. Now I've turned my attention to getting these TT's, receivers, etc to become usable once again. My issue with the ST-802 is that when set on either 45rpm or 33rpm the table will...

Replaced phono cable on my record player and now it sounds muddy.

I used a phono cable with connectors on both sides. So I had to take of the connectors on one side to solder it to the record player. I am not the best at soldering but it wasn't shorting or anything. Any one know why this ? I assume it's bad solder joints maybe ?
