Sansui vs Luxman (au-666 vs r-1050)

Greetings, I own both of these iconic pieces of gear but both need to be fixed up. I’ve never done a side by side comparison. Which is the better unit to keep? I have the matching TU-666 for the Sansui but tuners are mostly aesthetic to me. WPC isn’t a deciding factor just sound quality as I...

Sansui 800 trouble shooting - blows speaker fuse after deoxit

I bought this stereo at a thrift store for $15 about 6 months ago and have been using with some old speakers that I also thrifted. We really like the sound of it and my girlfriend and I have been trying to learn a bit about it. I guess we are noobs to the audiophile world. I thought the volume...

What fuse type should I use for my Stereo Power Amp?

I have a Hafler 9270 Power Amplifier. It had recently blown a fuse due to an external short. The manual just says to replace it with a 7amp fuse. The blown fuse says the following: 250V 3/2 (or 312 wasn't clear) 7A. It does not specify time delay or any other type. Which one should I use?

    Kenwood TK-50 RCA jacks

I have a Kenwood TK-50 with a broken RCA jack. The Rca jacks in the reciever are designed so that the center contact touches the terminal for the outer sleeve. Is it necessary to replace the jack with the same type if I can't manage to fix the original?

Sansui AU-101 / High Pitched sound with loudness turned on

Dear All, I have just received my Sansui AU-101 today in really good cosmetic condition (well chuffed), and fired it up with Wharfedale Denton 80th Anniversary addition speakers (6 ohm suitable for 20w - 100w amps per manufacturers recommendation). However, with loudness turned on, if I turn...

    Bogen BR-360 - A curious GW find

Picked this unit up last night for $15.75 at the Goodwill. It was a diamond in the rough, covered with 50 years’ worth of fingerprints, grime and dust. I could tell that it was in decent shape, It powered up, with dial lights, and it was heavy and mega solid so I bought it. First thoughts...

Recapped better than spec pioneer sx-1010 or…

May have the opportunity to trade my up to spec pioneer sx-1010 for a dynaco pas3, st 70, and an fm-3 plus a little cash on my end I could really care less on the tuner. So that’s not a plus to me in anyway. But I have been very curious of tube separates lately. I’m running Cornwalls with the sx...

    Help…Pilot MC-4000a

I just purchased this unit and know little to nothing about it. I’ve tested various functions (am, fm, tape, phonograph, speakers, power inputs), all of which work well. I did a simple google search to find out a little more like when it was made, what kind of unit it is (solid state etc) and...

Using a solid state amp as tone control with Reisong A10 tube amp??

I was looking at getting the Reisong Boyuurange A10 tube amp. I'm really interested in testing the tube sound (since I'm after a warmer sound) and I've heard good things about it. I currently have a Sansui AU-4900 and a Kenwood KA-7100 amplifier. My question is: Can I run the Sansui (for...

Fisher 28 stereo with BSR changer

Found at Goodwill for next to nothing. Installed a new stylus...the unit sounds better than it has a right to. Made in Japan...I'm guessing by Sanyo. Has a BSR changer and a Shure M75 cart. All functions working properly. I'd consider this on par with some of the similar KLH units I've...

    An amazing thing happened yesterday

I posted last week about looking for a service manual for the Realistic STA-870 AM/FM receiver. No one here has one, and i've spent a week scouring the internet for a PDF or even a hard copy of this manual. I've looked at manual repositories, forums, message boards, eBay, EVERYWHERE. It seems...

Hello, I am looking to hook up two turntables to one receiver and the only viable method i've researched is using a RCA splitter box and running it to my receiver.
