    Fisher CR-4025

Fisher Cr-4025. It won't record and I'm not sure why. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but the VU meters don't light up (the needles work themselves work properly) and the input level knobs don't seem to be doing anything but I'm not very knowledgeable about tape decks.

    Interesting (Annoying) RE-201 issue

Hello! Working on a RE-201 Space Echo, I've gone ahead and done all the usual mechanical overhauls (new pinch roller, guide arm, padding, head cleaning, and demagnetizing process) and installed a new replacement (1 meter) tape from GRS. Unit works fine for about an hour and then, consistently...

    How quickly do cassettes degrade?

About a month ago, I got myself a REM Automatic for the People cassette tape. One distinguishing feature of that Cassette was its transparent tape, but it worked fine so I disregarded it. Recently, I checked the tape, and I found that the tape had turned a more common brown color. I haven't...

    Tascam Porta One u510

Hey y'all, It's my first time posting on this forum, so I'll try to be as concise as possible. I bought a Tascam Porta One Ministudio cassette recorder a while back, and it can do basically anything except record, which is bad for obvious reasons. The tapes play, the VU meters work, everything...

    Akai GX4000-D fluctuating speed

Hi, Looking for advice on fixing this issue. Playback speed is fine until the tape has played about 3/4, then the speed starts fluctuating, as if it can't cope with the weight of tape on the take-up spool. I've cleaned and lubricated the idler wheels, and also disconnected and tested the motor...

Hey all, I have an old Viking 4 Track/Fidelipac Player that I’d like to hook up into my stereo system. Hi all, I'm thinking of making a speaker box with two 4" full-range drivers and one ~6" passive radiator. I've come across many speaker/subwoofer box builds online for inspiration and literally every single one of them shows the box panels being glued together and/or screwed together as the...

What are your favourite cassette decks from years gone by?

I saw a thread in General Audio about CD players and for a little while, it went off tobic into favourite cassette decks. I was wondering if we could get it going here instead. Hi everyone, this boombox was given to me and my brother by an uncle when we were kids. It was well used in the 80's and 90's, but has been stored in a dusty loft ever since.
