anyone knows what these speakers are?
I referenced Superman because of the obvious top of cabinet picture design.
Looks to be from the late 70’s just because of the look.

    Bi-directional design:
    Each top half houses (2) 8” drivers, (2) 3” mids, (2) 1” tweeters
    38” H x 16 1/2” W x 10”D
    45 LBS each

ev13wt, John Daly, Ds2000 and 2 others like this.

Those are so cool. It looks like someone took inspiration from the DCM Timewindows. They look too finely finished to be prototypes. I love how the chamfered edge shows off the oak grain. And the handles, and access ports! So sensible! And the transformer/autoformer in the crossover, probably for level-matching the drivers. Someone was a DESIGNER!

    How do they sound?

They actually sound very balanced and open.
Running them on Musical Fidelity A300 integrated right now, will try them on a Jolida Integrated tube in a week.

I’m not sure if they are homemade, just because everything looks too precise?

They look very homebrew to me. (Or built by DCM lol) Plywood front panels vs MDF the woofer cutouts look jigsawed. The backing plates for the woofer screws. Crossover parts mounted to the underside of the oak top. Mid driver cutout obviously used a simple smaller drilled hole before driver big circle cut to accommodate the wire terminals. Maybe a side project from someone in a small speaker shop? Very cool. No port. Was there any fill inside the cabs? With no port/transmission baffles are they a little bass shy? I think they are pretty attractive. Print a large stylized Superman "S" and tape it to the top?

Some speaker fill inside the cabinet, bass is somewhat what you’d think it be with no port, has a classic sound and fills the room easily.

If they float your boat, then add a quality sub to extend the low end and you should be fine.

Still trying to put together what these might be, mids are coming up as a possible drivers from Marantz?
