100-130 wpc receivers, Akai-Yamaha

I scrolled through all the posts in this old thread. I saw a Kenwood KR-10000XG but not a KR-10000III, which I have :D gee I guess the KR-10000III is pretty rare, given as old & long as this thread is. It is rated @ 120WPC RMS into 8 Ohms and 135 WPC into 4 Ohms. Was made around 1974-76. It has a "bronzed" aluminum face with a really pretty Walnut case made with plywood and not MDF particleboard.

I just bought another Pioneer SX-9000 Reverb Receiver on ebay for $65.50 plus $21.50 shipping. This one is cleaner than my old one and comes with the original manual PLUS all SIX of the stupid looking special Speaker plugs, which cost dang near what I gave for the Receiver.. Those old "Verb" Pioneers are rated at 240 wpc and kick assss with the dual volume controls and other levers, knobs and buttons. I have a pair of JBL 15"s, a pair of Fisher 12's and a couple of audioxox bookshelf speakers and my old Pioneer SX 9000 made my prostrate quiver and my feet numb from the bass..

Maybe thats why it won't power up completely anymore. It was always slow to amp up, but now all the lights work, but no FM reception or power out. The fuses are good and the reverb switch makes the speakers bump when I turn it off and on. I think its a relay or circut breaker that won't switch on.. Anyway, there were three of those on ebay a couple days ago and there is one left that looks real clean but the tuning needle do-hickey fell off and the bid starts at $49.00 .. If I had the money handy I'd pick up on it too! For the money those old receivers are Impressive and Heavy built.. many boards, wires, caps and nice wood cabinet..

I found an Audio magazine August 1978 and it has theese high powered recievers in adds: Pioneer SX 1980 270W pc, Sansui G-9000 160W pc, LUX R-1120 120W pc but was tested by Consumer Guide at 137W pc, the Marantz 2600 300W rms into 8 ohms or 400W rms into 4 ohms. Also compared to the Sansui G22000 220W rms and Pioneer SX 1980 270W rms. And Lastly the Technics SA-1100 330W rms per channel 8 ohms.

The Project /one Mark 600 is a very nice receiver also.. I think its only 60 WPC? I thought it was 120 but maybe that is total?

I have a Marantz SR9000G rated at 150 watts per channel. My brother brought it in Japan 1979 and gave it to me about 5 years ago. I think it is kind of rare. It was Marantz attempt to replace the 2600 before its downhill slide from being taken over by Phillips. I run it through a pair of Pioneer Cs 705 speakers. The sound is awesome.

yamaha cr - 3020 receiver

What about the Yamaha CR-3020. Until fairly recently I didn't know there was such a model. I saw one listed on EBay awhile back and if memory serves it was rated at 170 or 180 RMS. The jewel brought 2000 - 3000 $ U.S. . So I quess I'll never own one:tears:

After a second look at the original thread title I understand why this wasn't listed. This thread isn't just for monster receivers, it has a high end rating of 130. My Bad

there is a perfect yamaha cr - 3020 receiver on e-bay right now for $1,850.00 it ends in 40 mins but nobody has bid on it , my issue is i can not find out how man WPC this unit is some say 105 others say 180? what is the real answer? item on ebay >>> 200473396932

Nice! information thanks for posting. A nice resource to have. If I come across anything obscure will post..

Add the Realistic STA-2290 Receiver to the list.....I found one today @ GW....price was right at $39.99. Excellent shape... 100 watts/channel.....

You could add the Yamaha RX-V990. It's from the mid-late 1990s... Or is it still too new to be considered vintage? The Hafler DH-200 could also be added.

Why is this thread a sticky? The main post hasn't been updated in five years and it is missing so much!

This thread is a joke, and I think it should be deleted.

Onkyo TX-870 105 w/ch

Onkyo TX-890 125 w/ch

I've got a TX-870, replaced the FM sections filters with Murata 180 khz low loss filters. Excellent! I can listen to 96.5 mhz at 60 miles despite the local blowtorch on 96.7 mhz. FM performance was good before the filter change, is even better now.

Not sure if my new to me JVC 4VR 5456X Qudraphonic counts? In two channel mode it is rated 100w/ch RMS @ 8ohms 20-20. My ears, speakers and neighbors can confirm this. This thing is silly loud.
