160watts 8 ohms /200 , 4 ohms watts vs 100 watts 8 ohms / 200 watts , 4 ohms

A clue about current capability on an amp is the power ratings. 100w into 8 ohms and 200w into 4 ohms means the amp can produce more current than one rated 160w into 8 and 200w into 4. If current wasn't limited, you'd have double the watts into half the load impedance. If it does not double, the amp cannot produce enough current. If the lights are dimming, the power supply is probably being worked to it's limits.

Again, I was asking silentnet what his basis was for concluding that the Aragorn is a "sidestep".

If he's pushing the 1250 to the point lights are dimming, I'd suggest a bigger step up in power. Not saying the Aragon is a bad amp - far from it - but that the op would be better served with something with greater power output, since they're clearly listening at high volume. Something good for 200@8/400@4 rather than 100@8/200@4. Plenty of good quality affordable options... At least here in the states. Not sure about the Philippines.

Lots of powerful amp here in the Philippines, it just a matter of finding the the good deals :)

How about a Parasound HCA 1200ii 205@8/315@ 4 ?

Will Bi-amping be a big help? Parasound to the woofers, Pioneer to the Mids and tweets ?

Looking at the other half of the equation, resistance or impedance at less than 1Ω is usually considered a short circuit, whereupon something like a Takarada EDM power supply would be more appropriate. It will run at over 100A with a controlled short circuit, and you wouldn't even need to use the servo section - It's a win/win.

Or, you could find speakers that were wound with more than three turns of magnet wire...
