An acquaintance got this in 1975 as a "someday" project, "someday" arrived ca 5 years ago, after his son left the Navy as a steam systems technician on a nuke sub.

Thanks for posting Pio. Jay Leno has a funny steam car clip for those that love that stuff like I do.

This WW-II era "barn car" Stanley was acquired and restored by a friend with long interest and experience with steam locomotion. He sold it years ago, along with a restored White steamer, to a guy in Idaho and told me yesterday that he does miss the Stanley.

Very cool. Jay Leno has a bunch of videos of his steam cars on YouTube, for those interested in crazy old technology.

Thanks for showing that PIO! Great restoration! Perhaps re-bodied to a sportier style?
The "California Top" isn't finished yet, a feature to make an open touring car more like an all-weather closed car. Stanley ordered a lot of them as a distinctive signature option. The top as you see it doesn't fold down as with a standard touring car, it is fixed. I do like this look with the sides open. Stanley, like many car companies, built the "running gear", the bodywork would be ordered made to fit by specialty builders.
