1959 Voice of Music, Tape-O-Matic, Model 720

Found this recorder on the curb last night (8/15/18). Not tested yet. Includes an enclosed tube amplifier. The model 720 was released in 1959 and sold for $225.00. "Reel to reel tape recorder with half and quarter track stereo playback." Linked below is the V-M history site.

Pretty cool find! There’s been this VM 714 for sale on our local craigslist for a long time now but I think they’re asking a bit much for it. Sure was an expensive machine in its day though!

audiojones: Yeah, $225.00 was a pretty big piece of change in '59. The 714 was released in '58 for the same price (without the quarter track stereo playback).

I'm unfamiliar with reel to reels and need to do some homework regarding their restoration and maintenance.

Really like this machine. Too cool!
