Tex Rubinowitz / Bob Newcaster
Original Dixieland Rock "N" Roll Band
The Old Man Mississippi
Patuxent Music
This release already has a lot of sentimental value. One of the Mrs.'s first jobs was a honky-tonk on the DC- Maryland border. Tex was a regular performer there. When we met years later, our first date was Tex and The Bad Boys at a club named Twist And Shout, made famous by the song by Mary Chapin Carpenter. Tex dropped out of sight for about 30 years before re-surfacing at some local events the last few years. No doubt he is the DC area's biggest cult music hero, not the most famous by any stretch, but someone who was appreciated and revered by music lovers from all genres- from punk to country-western. The guy was bigger than life, tooling around in a '62 Caddy with "NO CLUB" on the license plate. It feels so good to hear his voice again.
